Delarosa moves to 7-0 with title win at SCC; Prospects Aguila and Williams move forward

FORT WORTH, TX – Formerly based exclusively out of Galveston, TX, Superior Combative Championship (SCC) has relaunched and has expanded statewide. Helmed by Stephen Lawhorn and Alex Madrid, the show recently launched its latest iteration with an event held last weekend at Guys and Doll’s Ballroom in Ft. Worth. The show was a benefit for the HOPE Foundation – a charity that aids children in or needing foster care.

Local bantamweight prospect Mark Delarosa headlined the card in search of his seventh win versus a tough opponent in Arthur Olivera. With a pro record 8-0-1 walking in, Arthur looked to play the part of Delarosa’s toughest opponent yet and it showed. He was certainly a game veteran and a perfect foil for the young upstart in this one as the two traded shots back and forth for three straight rounds. The margins were close as the results of the bouts went to the judges and it was Delarosa scoring the decision to move his record to 7-0.

The action was not lacking elsewhere on the card with all six undercard bouts ending in a finish. Hard to pick a singular highlight with so many finishes but Oscar Ramirez’s clean second round KO over a debuting Peter Caballero sticks out. Likewise with Jason Preston also scoring a knockout of Armando Herrera less than a minute into their planned three round bout.

As far as prospects to watch moving forward, Delarosa is certainly the marquee name but lightweight Alex Williams also impressed as he moved to 5-0 with his submission win over Gabriel Arce. Featherweight Ulyses Aguila also moved to 4-1. Both men should have intriguing fights ahead as they step into a pivotal point of their careers record-wise.

SCC returns to the Fort Worth area on June 4th with their next event planned for College Station a few weeks earlier on May 21st.
