SCC 7 brings 3 title fights to Galveston; David Kelly defends against Ralph Garcia in main event

GALVESTON, TX, May 13, 2014 lbs.: Superior Combative Championships returns for what could be their best event yet this Friday, May 16th. Scheduled for the Galveston Island Convention Center, SCC 7 features 3 title fights and 12 fights overall.

Headlining the SCC 7 fight card is lightweight champion David “Machine Gun” Kelly. The 18 year old prospect has scored 3 wins so far while fighting exclusively for SCC. A well-round striker/grappler, he will face a tough test in Ralph Garcia for his first title defense. Also known as the “Plexin Texan,” Garcia is a hometown favorite with 3 fights under his belt and his own well-rounded skillset to speak off. The 25 year old has only suffered one loss at the amateur level and that was against a legit pro prospect in Kolton Englund. Aside from that he’s shown himself to be a good fighter. David Kelly displays plenty of promise but this will no doubt be his stiffest test yet. A win here would catapult him as a legit prospect worthy of note statewide while a loss sends him back to the drawing board. It should be a good one.

Next up in title action is Edward Longoria facing off with Jacob Snyder for the SCC bantamweight belt. The defending champion Longoria has been busy signing autographs in his hometown as of late but now must defend his belt. Edward picked up experience at a staggering rate with 7 total fights in 2013 but this will be his first outing of the year. He’ll also face a worthy challenger in Jacob “The Ripper,” a 2-1 prospect out of SOL Fight Club with 2 finishes under his belt. The winner here should be on for bigger and better things while the loser is back to the drawing board.

Last but not least for the championship bouts is a flyweight contest between Robert Walker and Ramiro Ruiz. This bout between the two will crown the inaugural SCC 125 lbs. champion. The two have identical 2-1 records heading into the bout. At 6″ to his opponent’s 5’3″ Walker will have the significant size advantage in this fight so it should be interesting to see how it plays out.

The rest of the SCC 7 fight card is filled with young prospects looking to showcase themselves as names to watch in the future. Frank Rodriguez, Nico Escheverry, Nicholas Gay, and Luke Crawford are a few fighters that have our eye going in.
