Monica Flores wins by TKO over Maria Lopez; Saul Elizondo defeats David Armas at STFC 27

McAllen, TX, November 2, 2013 – It was yet another exciting night of fights last night in South Texas as the Raul Ramos led South Texas Fighting Championships (STFC) returned with their latest card at the McAllen Convention Center.

The ladies took center stage at STFC 27 with Houston’s Monica Flores taking on Austin’s Maria Lopez in the main event of the evening. It was a scrappy fight with Lopez looking to take the fight to the ground throughout the majority of the bout. A native boxer, Flores was also able to exhibit her all around skills en route to a second round TKO at the 1:17 mark.

Next up in the co-man event, Roma, TX native Saul Elizondo was about to defend South Texas home turf with a win over Houston’s David Armas in victory that should have some title implications in the bantamweight division, The fight went all over the place with both fighters having their moments. Luckily for Saul, he was able to avoid David’s vicious right hand while also exhibit his own power throughout the course of the fight. Elizondo now moves to a respectable 6-3 while Armas drops to 5-9.

The rest of the fight card proved to be some exciting action as well.

Fighting out of Brownsville, Miguel Vega scored a decision win over Mission, TX native Leroy Martinez in their bantamweight bout while Houston’s Edgar Verdin scored a decision of his own over Andrew Garza.

cdfAnother tough match features Victor Martinez out of Pharr, TX taking a TKO win over Austin’s Michael Lytle in a bloody affair. The Carlos Diego Ferreira bloodied the Austinite throughout the course of the fight to take home the well-earned victory in this one.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Bustillos scored the only submission of the evening with his first round rear-naked choke of George Powery while Luke Flores earned a quick win in his pro MMA debut with a 12-second TKO of Laredo’s Yail Eligio.
