PCG’s Cowboys Extreme Cagefighting 9 Preview – Prospects to Watch Out for at CEC 9

SAN ANTONIO, TX November 27, 2012 Premiere Combat Group returns for their last event of the year this Saturday, December 1st when Cowboys Extreme Cagefighting once again returns to Cowboys Dance Hall for what should be yet another exciting show.

By our count this will be the ninth PCG event to hit Cowboys since the Trevor Byrd and Jennifer Trevino-led promotion began operations in September 2010. Since that time they’ve had some great prospects come in and fight for them before moving on to the pro circuit and CEC 9 should be no different as there is no shortage of young prospects to look out for on this card.

Here’s the quick card below for all our fans before we take a look at some names that could make waves in the near future depending on how they perform at this weekend’s PCG show.

Texas Amateur MMA Prospects to Watch Out for at CEC 9

Travis Moore at the 2012 Texas Open

Parker Reid (4-1) – 20 year old Parker “Spiderman” Reid (BTT Texas) began fighting as an amateur in September 2010, winning his first three bouts before losing his first against Cody Medrano at Alamo Showdown 3. The 2-time PCG veteran quickly bounced back from that with a win over Troy Gentry in his last bout. Now 4-1, he’ll be walking into another title opportunity this Saturday when he takes on Cage Quest Season 1 champion William Boone Blair (2-0) for the CEC Bantamweight Championship.

Travis Moore (4-1) – Speaking of 4-1 fighters looking to redeem themselves and win a title, co-main event fighter Travis Moore definitely fits that description. Beginning his amateur career in just March of 2011, the 24 year old blazed ahead to four wins in a row before running into an experienced Santos Rosales (FCF/Paragon) in his last fight at ABG’s Cage Wars – losing by fourth round TKO in his first title fight. Not one to rest on his laurels, he’s been steadily training since then – working with the likes of UFC hopeful Colton Smith and others at Matt Larson’s Combat Club. This Saturday he’ll be facing a familiar opponent in Texas Fight Syndicate’s Chadrik Box (2-2), a fighter he’d already beaten this past April via first round submission. It remains to be seen whether it will be the same result this time around but one thing is for sure and that is whoever takes this one will be walking out a CEC titleholder.

New Braunsfels’ Katherine Roy

As for the rest of the card, there are plenty of young prospects from the Central Texas / Hill Country region that should be looking to make a name for themselves.

Perhaps even more encouraging than anything else is the presence of four women on this card with undefeated prospects River Warth (2-0), Sabrina Garcia (1-0), and Katherine Roy (1-0) all set to compete along with a debuting Veronica Cervantes.

Will the women steal the show this time around? Or will the two title fights prove to be the main attraction of the evening as advertised? We’ll find this Saturday night at Cowboys Dance Hall at CEC 9.
