Preview – PCG’s Cowboys Extreme Cagefighting returns to San Antonio on August 4th

Chris Jackson vs. Kevin Troyer from PCG’s last event.

SAN ANTONIO, TX, July 26, 2012 – Premiere Combat Group returns with another edition of Cowboys Extreme Cagefighting at Cowboys Dance Hall on Saturday, August 4th.

This show will mark the seventh amateur event on record for promoters Trevor Bird and Jennifer Trevino after they started the series in September 2010 with the intent goal of cultivating the sport in the San Antonio-New Braunfels metropolitan area and all of south-central Texas.

In keeping with that theme, PCG will be featuring fighters from many of the area’s gyms and fight teams along with several fighters from outside the region on this upcoming card.

With 11 bouts currently slated for Cowboys Dance Hall, this show might be a good show to attend for first-time viewers of MMA in the area along with die-hard fans.

As it stands today, the Aug. 4 show will be headlined by a welterweight title bout featuring Austin’s Lester Clark (3-3) taking on Jared Perez (4-2) of Corpus Christi.

Training out of American Revolution in Corpus, Perez fancies himself as a Dutch kickboxing specialist in the mold of former UFC champ Maurice Smith while Clark has simply been a finisher throughout his career with six fights all ending before the judges’ scorecards so this should be a good test for both seasoned amateurs on their way to the pro ranks.

Undefeated Tyler Keen returning vs. Luis De Los Santos

As for the undercard, It should be equally exciting considering some of the prospects listed on the fight card below.

For example, there’s undefeated Tyler Keen (4-0) returning to PCG once after his ‘Fight of the Night’ performance against Luis De Los Santos this past March. He’ll be taking on another tough opponent in fellow undefeated fighter Alex Hernandez (2-0) this time around.

Likewise, we’re curious to see Bobby Alexander who will be making the trip down for his debut from the Fort Worth area. This young man is a pupil of UFC vet Travis Lutter and has been doing well on the BJJ / grappling circuit for some time so it’ll be interesting to see how he does in his long-awaited MMA debut.

There’s sure to be some other exciting young prospects to watch on this card as well.

Below is the full card as it stands today.
