Houston’s “Machine Gun” Young Ready for Shark Fights 20 Main Event versus Undefeated Clifford Starks

AMARILLO, TX, September 16, 2011 – We recently announced little over a week ago that longtime Houston resident Artenas “Machine Gun” Young (7-3) would be taking a featured spot on October 15th at Shark Fights 20 against undefeated top contender Clifford Starks (6-0).

The fight was originally supposed to be the lead in to a main event bout featuring UFC vet Chris Comaozzi (15-4) versus Matt Lucas (14-2) but that is no longer the case. The Ultimate Fighter season 11 contestant is no longer on the card after being re-signed by the UFC with his first fight back at UFC 137.

As a result of this latest development, the fight between Artenas Young and the upstart Starks has been moved to main event status to headline the event set for Laughlin, Nevada’s Edgewater Casino Resort.

Regarding the move, Young was his usual confident self, saying ““It doesn’t matter if I fight first or last, I am always the main event. Now it’s just official.”

“Headlining Shark Fights 20 is a dream for me, but it’s going to be a nightmare for Starks, cause I’m putting on a SHOW at his expense.”

With a recent streak including wins over Kyle Bracey (4-2) and Elvis Mutapcic (9-2), a win in this bout could be huge for Young considering the UFC has signed five fighters from Strikeforce this past year alone. As is such, an impressive performance in this bout could conceivably land “The Machine Gun” in the UFC alongside Camozzi and another recently-signed Shark Fights vet in West Texas bantamweight Joseph Sandoval (6-0).

Here’s the full card for Shark Fights 20 as it stands today.
