With grad school in the rear view mirror, Jinh Yu Frey focused on Invicta FC 14

No rest for the weary as up-and-coming atomweight prospect looks to secure her next win following business school graduation

ARLINGTON, TX – To say that Invicta FC’s Jinh Yu Frey is a rare breed would be an understatement, and a huge one at that. Frey has gone 3-1 since turning pro in April 2013, her lone blemish coming by way of a narrow split decision loss to a more experienced fighter in her Invicta FC debut. Since then she’s won impressively, choking out Cassie Rob at Invicta FC 10, but she’ll also done much more away from the bright lights of the cage.

Jinh recently graduated with her MBA from the University of Arlington. She accomplished this while concurrently working full-time as a Nuclear Medicine (PET/CT) Technologist at a local cancer center and training “full time” as well. If most fighters define training full-time as spending most of their time at gym training and teaching to make money, Jinh blows that definition out of the water. She hasn’t been training full-time. She has been working overtime – working on her mind, her body and everything else to be the best person she can be, unsatisfied with the status quo.

Shedding some insight into her personality recently with AXS.tv, Jinh says:

“As an athlete and a person, one of the greatest blessings bestowed upon me is my work ethic. I work hard every day at everything I do. My internal drive and ambition cannot possibly tolerate mediocrity. It is a constant that pushes me to strive to be the best possible form of myself, and in that, I am truly blessed.”

While balancing life at the hospital, school, and gyms such as Mohler’s and a few others have been the norm for Jinh Yu Frey, her recent graduation crosses a major goal off the board and she can now focus on what’s next – her upcoming atomweight bout opposite Liz McCarthy this Saturday at Invicta FC 14.

“I think she is a great fighter,”Jinh says about her opponent. “She’s well rounded and gritty. She doesn’t mind biting down on her mouthpiece and throwing so it’s going to be a great fight. Both her losses are close split decisions, so I think she is better than her record (1-2) would suggest.”

It is clear Frey doesn’t expect an easy win but she expects one nonetheless.

“I’m expecting a tough three-round war. I don’t ever really have game plans. I just go out there and react.”
