Bubba McDaniel and Charles Cheeks lead list of winners at Fury FC 7
HUMBLE, TX – Fury Fighting Championship 7 took place this past Saturday at the Humble Civic Center. Kicking off with an earlier start time of 4:30pm, Fury FC 7 served as a perfect complement to UFC 189 later that evening for Houston MMA fight fans.
In the main event of the evening, seasoned UFC/TUF vet Bubba McDaniel used his black belt level grappling acumen to take Edgar Verdin’s back and choke him out via RNC in the second round to secure victory. McDaniel is now winner of 4 out of his last 5 fights since his last UFC appearance back in March 2014.
In the co-main event, Charles Cheeks defeated former Paradigm teammate Edgar Juarez by unanimous decision to move to an impressive 9-3 overall. Juarez drops to 4-2 as a pro following his biggest test yet. Look for both men to stay active following the competitive bout.
Elsewhere at Fury FC 7, 37 year old former Legacy champ Ray Blodget had no issue with journeyman Edwynn “Ox” Jones and defeated the late replacement by guillotine quickly in the first round of their bout.
Elite MMA’s top prospect Trevin Giles passed his biggest test yet as a pro as he defeated Terrance Ferguson by TKO to move to 3-0. The 22 year old has finished all 3 of his pro opponents thus far, all in the first round.
A pair of Metro Fight Club prospects concluded the pro card with wins as Jacob Silva also won his first pro bout by triangle choke submission over Albert Tapia in the first round to move to 1-2 while Adrian Yanez moved to 3-1 with his own triangle submission over D’Neareon Seymore.
