Fury FC 7 brings in their first UFC/TUF vet to compete against Houston MMA veteran; Other prospects to watch

HUMBLE, TX – Fury Fighting Championship 7 hits the Humble Civic Center this Saturday, July 11th. The mixed pro-am card is currently set to feature 14 fights overall for Houston MMA fight fans with a plethora of veteran pros expected to compete on the card. Also of note is the unusual start time of 4:30pm as the promotion looks to wrap up prior to UFC 189 and the Conor McGregor show.

Headlining Fury FC 7 is a matchup between local veteran scrapper Edgar Verdin and a UFC vet out of Jackson’s MMA & Bastos BJJ Midland, Bubba McDaniel. The Houston native (Verdin) has been on a hot streak heading into this fight with 3 wins in a row. Meanwhile his opponent is 3-1 in his last four and looking to get another one on the way back to the big leagues. It’s an interesting matchup with a contrast of styles between striker and grappler. It’s also the biggest test yet for Verdin as Fury FC brings in their first UFC vet combatant yet to compete in this upcoming light heavyweight main event.

Speaking of big tests, Paradigm FC’s Edgar Juárez accepted one for the co-main event of the evening as he takes his 4-fight win streak into battle against Charles Cheeks. With an 8-3 record, Charles has over twice as many fights as Juárez and also brings with him great wrestling to go along with his natural athletic ability so he’ll be formidable. Edgar fights with a lot of heart and is skilled himself however so this fight should be a good one. It will also serve as a barometer regarding each fighters’ prospects headed into the future.

Other fights/fighters worthy of note for Fury FC 7:

Former Legacy FC lightweight champion Ray Blodget returns to the cage looking for his second win in a row after coming back from a year-long hiatus. He’s been expected to take on Kolton Englund but it looks like he’ll now be fighting longtime jobber Edwynn “Ox” Jones instead.

Perennial top prospect Domingo Pilarte continues his steady climb up the ladder on the way to the big leagues against journeyman Landon Ackel.

Elite MMA’s Trevin Giles looks to stay undefeated as a pro against seasoned grappler/fighter Terrance Ferguson and much more.
