Team Lutter prospect stays undefeated vs. impressive competition; Other prospects to watch following DFW fight card
DALLAS, TX – Team Lutter’s “Trailblazer” Kevin Holland was the big winner this past Saturday night in Dallas. The 22 year old prospect stepped into the main event of XKO 26 against his most experienced opponent yet in Victor Reyna. At 5-1 overall going into the fight and with a win over Evan Thompson, Reyna was definitely the more experienced of the two going on. The experience factor proved to be a non-factor after all however as Holland withstood the initial barrage from Reyna until he was able to secure the fight ending guillotine choke off a takedown at 3:44 in the first round. Kevin Holland now moves to 4-0 overall with first round finishes over Reyna, Houston’s Aaron Reeves and BJJ black belt Marc Ayub highlighting his record. Considering all those, it wouldn’t be unfair to say that he might be the top welterweight prospect currently fighting out of the DFW region.
Elsewhere at XKO 26, another prospect out of Team Lutter stayed undefeated in flyweight Isaiah Gutierrez. He was able to land Alonzo Jordan his first loss as a pro with a close split decision win to bring his own record up to 2-0 while Jordan fell to 2-1.
Others impressing at XKO 26 included Eliasar “El Oso” Rodriguez who was able to score an impressive knockout over Stephen Banaszak to bring his record to 6-4 while others such as Jarod Trotter and Kelvin Martinez also impressed with first round finishes to bring their own pro records to 1-0. Trotter trains out of the Bruno Bastos academy in Midland and should be one to watch moving forward with his impressive grappling acumen while Kelvin is brother to Jonathan Martinez, a West Texas based prospect who has quietly notched a 7-0 pro record with impressive wins over Ryan Hollis, CJ Vergara, and Xavier Siller. With that type of pedigree (likely the current top flyweight based out of Texas), Jonathan is definitely one to watch. So it goes without saying that his brother Kelvin is on the radar as well.
