Upcoming Houston seminar focused on helping vets suffering from PTSD

11053341_1020116878006324_7856290595414164693_nHOUSTON, TX – DAWG Foundation, in concert with instructors from 4OZ Fight Club, BJJ Revolution and Fitness Fight Factory are putting on the first event of their fight seminar series this Saturday in Houston. As with all their events, this non-profit is aimed at benefitting disabled veterans through the DAWG Foundation.

“The May 23rd seminar set for 11am-3pm is to raise money for DAWG, a 501(c)(3), and awareness for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder),” said Jeremy Mahon, a USMC veteran and Texas MMA veteran fighter who decided to kick start the organization and help his fellow vets last year. “We’re trying to get 100 people in there for the seminar and capping it off there. If this one goes well, we (DAWG) plan on doing a whole series of seminars like this one at different gyms and in different cities and with different instructors. It’s a great way to raise funds for the charity but also pretty cool for fighters and those that train the different aspects of MMA to get some good knowledge for their donation.

As for who they’ll be learning from, this first event features a trio of high-level coaches including “The General” Bob Perez (UFC striking coach), BJJ Revolution head instructor Jeff Messina (BJJ black Belt), and Fitness Fight Factory’s Johnny Bedford (UFC veteran, former collegiate wrestler).

“Bob is teach an hour of Muay Thai then Jeff is going to do a one hour BJJ seminar while Johnny is going to conclude by showing some great MMA techniques. Then in the final hour we will have open mat to roll or spar or take selfies or whatever makes the attendees happy. We’ll probably have some vendors set up there as well, for food or apparel or whatever they want to come out and support the event with. It’s going to be a great time and we always appreciate the support!”
