Several key prospects set to compete in latest Houston MMA fight card, Fury FC 4

1456032_855114087878453_5614041105321653076_nHOUSTON, TX – Fresh off the promotion’s last event in San Antonio, Fury FC returns in short order on February 13th with their next event. Back in Houston, Fury Fighting Championship 4 will be an interesting pro MMA fight card for the fans. Several current or former top prospects are set to compete on the card, and it will be very interesting to see how their performances will shape the rest of their year on the MMA scene.

First up, Beaumont native Ryan “Superman” Spann returns to the cage opposite Artenas “Machine Gun” Young. A former amateur fighter for Garcia Promotions, Spann ran roughshod to behin his pro carer with 5 straight victories. The 6’5 former welterweight was well on his way up prior to the first loss of his pro career vs. Brandon Farran in his last fight of 2014. He’ll be taking on another striker and a veteran at that with MGY. The 34 year old Artenas has 18 pro fights on his record and has remained busy since debuting as a pro in 2010. Young has alwso lost 2 in a row 3 of his last 4 so he’s fighting to keep his relevancy as a viable top contender here. What fans can expect in this one should be a tactical striking battle but it should be an intriguing fight no matter which way it goes down.

Next up, also fighting out of Beamount is the Houston MMA return of “the wolverine” Cody Williams. The former ATT fighter (Now with ATOS) was one of the most popular fighters for Legacy FC back in 2011-2012 due to his ferocious style but fell out after 2 straight losses to top fighters in Thomas Almeida (now in the UFC) and Steven Peterson (on his way). Cody has won 4 out 5 since then and he’s also looking to making his way up like his former opponents. He’ll look to prove that worth at Fury FC 4 when he takes on 13-5 Brazilian black belt Lincoln de Sa.

61198_10151251437479293_1379208345_nAnother noteworthy fighter worth keeping an eye on at Fury FC 4 is BJJ Revolution’s Domingo Pilarte. Noted as one of the hardest hitting bantamweights in the state, Domingo has fought sporadically since his 2009 pro debut. He’s also coming off a tough loss to Brazilian Caio Machado at Legacy FC 27 but he feels like he’s improved measurably since then. He’ll be looking to show those gains when he takes on 2-2 Beaumont native Joel Scott, a former amateur champion who’s coming off his best win yet with his first round submission over Ricardo Palacios at Best of the Best 2.

There’s much more to looking forward to at Fury Fighting Championship 4 as well, including the rematch between 8-3 Alex Morono and the man that tried to take a chunk out of his chest during their last fight, “Spartan” Rashid Abdullah.

Check out the complete fight card below and stay tuned for additional coverage and results from TXMMA following Fury FC 4 fight night:
