Mick Maynard’s latest endeavor promises to bring high-level kickboxing to Legacy fight fans
HOUSTON, TX – “I’m 2014 a new Legacy is born.”
That’s the tagline on the new Legacy Kickboxingwebsite as Texas-based promoter Mick Maynard adds professional kickboxing to an events portfolio that also includes pro and amateur mixed martial arts. With almost 100 total events under his belt, Maynard is no stranger to promoting combat sports but turns to his first love (striking) with this endeavor. Legacy Kickboxing will mirror the fan-friendly rules system adopted by similar shows like GLORY Kickboxing. Similar to their pro MMA shows, Legacy Kickboxing will also air nationally on AXS TV starting with their first event, January 16th in Houston.
Speaking of the Jan. 16th show scheduled for the Bayou Music Center in Houston, it’s a good one. With an increasing number of MMA events in the area, a big-time event like televised kickboxing is a nice change of pace and will appeal to both the MMA and boxing fan demographic here locally in Houston. LK1 will look to captivate both with an action-packed lineup that includes talent from all over the globe.
For starters, popular former UFC and K1 fighter Pat Barry appears on the card in the co-main event opposite Oklahoman Demoreo Dennis while other crossover stars like Miguel Torres and 51-1 kickboxing prodigy Valentina Shevchenko also make appearances on the inaugural card.
The main event features young Dutch kickboxer Regian Eersel taking on Brazilian counterpart Cosmo Alexandre while popular local fighter/coaches like Michael Chase Corley, Alex Morono and Angel Huerta are also set to compete.
For local fans, they can expect to see more than expected at LK1 with an undercard that includes fighters like Justin Reiswerg, Samuel Mongonia, and Bee Nguyen, just to name a few.
Check out the official fight card below along with an AXS TV video preview of what to expect at LK1.
