Oswald Sanchez earns #1 contender slot with big knockout win over Joaquin Sanchez

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Premiere Combat Group reached a milestone this past Saturday on December 6th, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas presenting their twentieth event, Premiere Combat Group 20 – Chase for the Championship. PCG 20 – Chase for the Championship featured 10 fights with the main event naming a new number one contender for the PCG featherweight title, currently held by Peter Caballero. The PCG team, led by Trevor Bird, wanted to end the year with some fireworks. With only four out of eleven fights advancing past the second round, the PCG team definitely made Cowboys Dancehall feel like New Years Eve.

Bringing a majority of the ammunition was the main event fight between Oswald Sanchez (4-3) and Joaquin Sanchez (3-1). There was a lot of talk and hype coming into this fight with Joaquin claiming, “this will probably be his (Oswald) last one ever.” Oswald responded with some words of his own, but the majority will remember how he responded in the cage. Only 15 seconds in, Oswald landed an explosive flying knee that rendered Joaquin unconscious securing Oswald the victory, a shot at the featherweight title, and a spot in the PCG record books as the fastest KO ever.

The co-main event featured undefeated David Miramontes defeating Kaleb Petereit by unanimous decision. It was a back-and-forth fight that saw Miramontes utilize his striking and takedowns to secure the win. Shortly after his victory, Miramontes was named the number one contender for the bantamweight title.

Some more notables included the debut of Brandi Narvaez, wife of UFC fighter Roger Narvaez. Narvaez dominated winning by TKO only 22 seconds into the fight. Rolando Gomez earned his first win by knocking Abel Zaragosa out cold in the first round with a booming right hook. Both Jacob Landin and Alberto Leija jumped into the victory circle with a pair of submissions, as well as Carlos Cerna and Bill Vasquez Jr. securing their first wins by decision.
