Female BJJ practitioners show up in droves for GIG 5 year celebration at Austin Eastside Elite

AUSTIN, TX – As a community-based entity based out of Texas, Girls in Gis came together five years ago with the goal of bringing together girls and women of all ages to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Since its inception GIG has continued to grow year-over-year and has expanded to several states including Colorado and Oklahoma.

This past weekend Girls in Gis held their five year anniversary celebration in multiple locations, including Austin, TX where over 140 females showed up (in their gis of course) for an afternoon of drilling, rolling and celebrating their camaraderie as female BJJ practitioners.

TXMMA was lucky enough to be invited to the celebration and capture just some of what makes the female BJJ community special.

Here are a few photos from the event. The rest can be found here and here.
