Fight-by-Fight Breakdowns and Predictions
120 lbs.: Fatima Mallett (3-1) vs. Katherine Roy (1-1) * TITLE
Battling it out to become PCG’s first women’s strawweight champion (and for personal reasons) will be Ohana Academy’s Fatima Mallett (3-1) versus Warriors Edge’s Katherine Roy (2-1). Roy recently celebrated Fight of the Night honors at the last PCG event in June, a victory over Dominique Gonzales. After winning her first three fights, Mallett most recently suffered the first loss of her career, dropping a unanimous decision to Roxanne Ceasear, at Belts of Honorious VI. The fight was also her first title fight. The two fighters were former teammates, but after an ugly falling out and a war of words the two will be looking to finally end the rivalry inside the cage, the right way.
PREDICTION: Katherine Roy wins by unanimous decision
170 lbs.: Joe Casteneda (3-1) vs. Rodrigo Martinez (3-1)
In this fight, fans will see two fighters who both started their careers hot, winning their first three fights. However, both fighters ended up losing their fourth fight putting them at 3-1 each. Also, both fighters have not fought in quite a while. Casteneda’s last fight was in August of 2011 and Martinez most recently in March of 2012. Another interesting fact is Casteneda is 13 years older than Martinez at 37 years of age. It will be interesting to see how age and cage rust will play a factor in this co-main event bout.
PREDICTION: Rodrigo Martinez wins by unanimous decision
155 lbs.: Jason Brown (1-0) vs. Josh Nealy (1-2)
After winning his debut fight in only 29 seconds by submission, Nealy has dropped his last two both by decision. Nealy is hoping to even out his record against Jason Brown. Brown recently dominated in his debut for PCG against Jerrick Warden, a TKO victory in less than a minute.

230 lbs.: Emilio Sanchez (0-0) vs. Emo Martinez (0-0)
A heavyweight matchup between two debuting fighters that both start with the letter “E”. Expect the winner of this fight to be the first fighter who connects or the fighter with the better cardio.
PREDICTION: Emilio Sanchez wins by TKO in the first round
155 lbs.: Steve Ellis (1-0) vs. Rolando Gomez (0-0)
Undefeated Steve Ellis recently made his debut for PCG on June 27th, a submission victory via guillotine in the third round. Ellis is facing newcomer Rolando Gomez.
PREDICTION: Steve Ellis wins by unanimous decision
115 lbs.: Laurie Ashby (0-1) vs. Marisa Tate (0-0)
Laurie Ashby will also be taking on a newcomer, Marisa Tate. Ashby lost her debut to Fatima Mallett by triangle choke; however, despite being the clear-cut underdog, Ashby was winning the fight until midway through the second round after taking Mallett down, both fighters scrambled for position and Ashby landed up in a tight triangle by Mallett.
PREDICTION: Laurie Ashby wins by TKO in the second round
145 lbs.: Kaleb Petereit (0-0) vs. Keith Parsons (0-1)
A blue belt from Submission Concept, Keith Parsons, will be taking on Kaleb Petereit, a fighter under Pete Spratt and Rodrigo Pinheiro. Parsons lost his debut fight by a submission guillotine choke. Petereit will be making his MMA debut.
PREDICTION: Kaleb Petereit wins by TKO in the first round
170 lbs.: Mark Geiger (0-0) vs. Channing Bryant (0-0)
If you thought the age-gap between Casteneda and Martinez was significant then this will be a deal-breaker for you. Channing Bryant is 16 years older than Mark Geiger at 41 years of age. Both fighters stand at 5’10 and both will be making their debut. TXMMA will give the nod to Bryant simply because how many people do you know that will step into a cage at 41 years old? Any chance that Bryant makes his own version of Dan Henderson’s “H-Bomb”?
PREDICTION: Channing Bryant wins by TKO (B-BOMB) in the third round.
135 lbs.: Juan Ontiveros (0-1) vs. Steven Esquivel (2-6)
After dropping his debut fight, Juan Ontiveros finds himself taking on amateur veteran Steven Esquivel. Esquivel has found minor success in the cage, only winning two of his eight fights. However, he is 2-1 in his last three fights.
PREDICTION: Steven Esquivel wins by split decision.
155 lbs.: Christopher Hinojosa (1-1) vs. Eric Leos (1-0)
After splitting two fights at welterweight, Christopher Hinojosa is dropping down to the lightweight class to take on Eric Leos. Leos last fought for PCG in October of 2012, a TKO victory over Jerry Cortez. Hinojosa won his last fight by sneakily securing an arm-bar submission in the third round, after two full rounds of slugging with Angel Ruiz.
PREDICTION: Eric Leos wins by TKO in the second round.
