After first loss in his last fight, Peter Cabellero giving Sam Garcia a chance to avenge his lone defeat
“I’m just your normal 24 year old guy,” says Pete. “I love to spend time with my family, my new fiancé and my two dogs Maximus and Saffy. All I really do is train and work and I try my best to be a good Christian example to other around me. I think family is the most important thing and MMA is right up there behind that. It’s been a hard but fun experience learning new techniques and meeting great people.”
“I come from a judo/wrestling kickboxing background. I train at Mendez Martial Arts, Gracie Barra and Pro Performance. All my coaches especially Mr. Gutierrez and Mr. Huerta help me out a lot. I’m always trying to get better because no matter who you are or how strong you are there is always someone out there that will try to whoop your ass.”
Caballero experienced his first loss in his last fight by TKO to (now pro) Adrian Yanez last December at Legacy AS 14. Taking it in stride, he said it’s pushed him to work harder in all facets of his game. “I’ve spent more time improving my jujitsu and taken my strength and conditioning works to the next level. I’m going to be a stronger fighter this time around.”
This Friday he’ll be facing a familiar opponent in Sam Garcia (3-1). The two fought each other for PCG last June. Up to now it is still the only loss on Garcia’s record and he’ll get a chance to avenge it after a year of improvement himself. Given the circumstances and both fighters fighting to prove something to themselves if not to anyone else, this has all the makings of a barnburner.
