Kevin “Trailblazer” Hollands win welterweight title over Billy Bear at Premiere Combat Group

10167990_10152307618719293_2044238816_nSAN ANTONIO, TX – Premiere Combat Group (PCG) came back to life at Cowboys Dancehall on March 29th this past weekend in San Antonio. Early on in the evening ring announcer Jeff Houston dubbed it “the epic return of PCG” and he was right. It was a great night for the promotion’s first showing of 2014. It was also a successful debut for new matchmaker Gregory Reid given the well-matched card. The crowd was into the action and came out in force to support local MMA. And now Premiere Combat Group is indeed back, to the city they’ve always been in, at the facility they’ve always called home.

Talent-wise, this show featured some promising fighters. The main event between “Trailblazer” Kevin Holland and William Clark (Billy Bear) was a showcase of two guys looking to make noise now and in the future. Holland got the best of things to win the 170 lbs. title and showcased some of his versatility in this one. He was the more seasoned athletic striker and used his reach well. He also defended well on the floor against an opponent known for his submissions and showed he might have what it takes to compete at the pro level. After the fight he mentioned that’s exactly what he’s going to do sometime soon so keep an eye out for him.

10173658_10152307616844293_852899246_nThe rest of the card featured some fighters with promise as well. Colt Gillis looked great opening up the night with a unanimous decision win over Micah Barro. Jason Brown and Jerry Cortez both looked impressive with TKO wins over Jerrick Warden and Jay Martinez respectively. David Miramontes and Anthony Ivy got finished their opponents by TKO as well while Fatima Mallet looked good in submitting Laurie Ashby after a strong start by the latter fighter.

We’d expand more but we did catch most of the event on video as well so just check it out and watch the March 29th Premiere Combat Group show from San Antonio below:
