Joe Maupin, Levi Mowles, Fatima Mallett and more shine last Friday night in Austin

AUSTIN, TX, February 24, 2014 – Amateur MMA was on display at Nutty Brown Cafe & Amphitheatre in Austin this past Friday. Hosted by Nael Chavez and his Enlightened Warriors crew, Belts of Honorius 4 featured nine fights in total. The BOH 4 event also featured 2 title fights and 1 female fight as part of that, making an exciting night of fights for fans on hand.

The middleweight title was on the line in the main event of the evening with San Marcos resident Joe Maupin (Warrior’s Edge) winning handedly over Gabriel Rodriguez by first round TKO. This loss moves Maupin to 3-1 overall as an amateur with three wins by TKO. In fact he hasn’t lost since his debut in May 2012 so his stock is definitely on the upswing.

Also looking good in bantamweight title action was DFW native Levi Mowles. He achieved his first amateur title following a thoroughly dominant performance over Angel Delgado. Levi now moves to 4-0 with the win while Delgado drops to 3-2.

Also in action was Austin female MMA representative Fatima Mallett who picked up a win over DFW’s Sarah Boyd Snow. Mallett showed herself to be the more MMA-ready fighter by a longshot in this fight. As for Snow, she gave it a go but confirmed she will be going back to focusing on BJJ competitions for the time being after suffering her second loss in two fights.
