Quick UFC turnaround for the Big Show; Jared Rosholt scheduled for Jan. 25 at UFC on FOX 10
DALLAS, TX, December 9, 2013 – It looks like Team Takedown’s “Big Show” won’t be on the sidelines long. Based out of the Dallas, area, newly-minted UFC heavyweight Jared Rosholt (9-1) debuted for the Ultimate Fighting Championship just a week ago when he took on former collegiate basketball player Walter Harris at the TUF 18 Finale.
Going the distance in his debut fight for the promotion, Rosholt earned a hard-fought unanimous decision over Harris to bring his record to 9-1 and an undefeated 1-0 in the UFC. A former All-American wrestler while at Oklahoma State University, Jared had been touted as one of the decorated heavyweights to enter the octagon in some time but stood with his athletic opponent for the majority of his first UFC fight before taking things to the ground to seal the deal in that one.
Now he’ll be tested again when he meets largely unknown yet dangerous Ukrainian -Russian Alexey Oleinik (48-9-1) when the UFC returns to Chicago next month for UFC on FOX 10, scheduled for January 25th at the United Center in Chicago.
Although he’s largely unknown stateside and perhaps even on his side of the globe, the experienced Oleinik does have one significant win to his credit in the form of a first-round submission of former PRIDE legend Mirko “CroCop” Filipovic this past November in Moscow. He also holds past wins over UFC vets Jeff Monson and Neil Grove.
