Amber Stautzenberger wins at XKO; Complete Results from Nov. 23

ARLINGTON, TX, November 25, 2013 – Rising Women’s MMA prospect Amber Stautzenberger (Mohler’s MMA) was able to up her record to an impressive 4-1 overall with a unanimous decision win over Invicta veteran Lacey Schuckman this past Saturday in Arlington. Fighting in the main event of the XKO 20 event held at the GYM combative sports facility, The two fought in what was the first-ever women’s main event for the promotion. It ended up being a closely-fought battle throughout but one that went the way of the Dallas area native, likely a nod to her effective use of the clinch and knees throughout the three round bout.

• 145 lbs.: Cody Walker over Casey Hudson by submission (guillotine), RD1

Xtreme Knockout 20 (XKO 20) – Fight-by-Fight Play by Play

145 lbs.: Casey Hudson (2-3) vs. Cody Walker (1-1)

Cody came in strong and ready to work. Casey had a solid fan base and radiated confidence.

Round 1 – Cody started it off with a solid kick to Casey’s legs that made him stumble but he corrected quickly. Each fighter got a few punches in before Casey attempted a takedown but couldn’t execute. Cody countered, getting a guillotine choke, pushing Casey back into the fence until he solidified the choke for the submission. Casey was obviously shocked and devastated after the submission.  Cody Walker won in 45 sec with submission choke.

135 lbs.: Alex Melendez (4-3) vs. Fernando Salas (3-2)

Fernando came into the ring with a fierce calm and obviously prepared. Alex appeared confident like he has been here before.

Round 1 – Fernando quickly went for a single leg take down after a few jabs but couldn’t execute. Both fighters landed some solid punches and Fernando went for another take down. Alex countered and followed up with a strong right that made contact however Fernando quickly gained his bearings as Alex pushed him to the fence. After a few breaths at the fence for each fighter, Fernando nicely executed a takedown slam which took Alex down. Alex rebounded quickly and Fernando pulled guard to keep Alex down. Fernando locked in and got the triangle for submission  1.40 sec submission for Fernando Salas.

170 lbs.: Aaron Culpepper (2-3) vs. Leville Simpson (3-1)

Each fighter appears ready to execute.

Round 1 – Several Punches fly from each corner. Aaron attempts take down at fence and pins Leville’s legs for full mount. Aaron then attempts to ground and pound but Leville is able to hold him off and gets up. Aaron gets a takedown slam but cannot execute and Leville quickly gets back up against the fence. Leville continues to punch and elbow from top and finally gets a solid knee in after several attempts. Aaron ends up in turtle position after the knee blow where Leville pounds until ref stops the fight for a TKO. Aaron appears to have a head injury of some kind which forced him to stop defending off Leville’s punches. Aaron complains to ref that he received back of the head shots but ref does not change decision.

155 lbs.: Jacob Capelli (1-2) vs. Darius Yancy (2-3)

A question with the left glove of Jacob causes a short delay in the fight. A little tape does the trick and we are ready to begin. Darius comes in calm with a few high kick stretches.

Round 1 – Darius starts his fight with front kicks as Jacob punches and pushes him to the fence. Darius attempts knee strikes with no effect. Jacob uses the fence to attempt take down. Darius is defending with his under hooks. Jacob attempts another takedown slam but doesn’t get the lift he needs. Jacob knees and uses fence to hold Darius. Darius attempts  a guillotine and Jacob backs off  back to center of ring where Darius kicks and while Jacob lands a right punch. Darius counters with a solid left kick to face. Fighters get tangled up and both go to the ground, remaining there as time runs out.

Round 2 –  Darius kicks to head of Jacob as Jacob tries punch and misses. Darius clinches and takes Jacob to the ground. Darius attempts a strait arm bar but does not have the leverage and Jacob escapes.  They end up back on their feet while more kicks from Darius make solid contact and Jacob is visibly losing some steam. Darius is keeping distance with leg kicks to remain standing.  Jacob attempts some combinations  but makes no contact. Darius clinches again and gets the takedown to half guard. Not much of an attempt by either fighter on the ground and time runs out.

Round 3 – Fighters clinch after each throw punches that don’t make contact. Darius gets a takedown but can’t keep Jacob down and they both get back up. Jacob attempts a takedown this time and Darius gets pushed to fence. Jacob falls into another guillotine attempt but is able to get out. Another take down by Darius and again lands in half guard.  Eventually Jacob defends and they both get up. A solid hard take down from Darius and he lands in full guard this time. Jacob holds on and time runs out. Both fighters stand and appear to have respect for each other as they come from the same school and await the results. Darius wins by unanimous decision.

170 lbs.: Kolby Adams (1-1) vs. Abdul Razak Al Hassan (0-0)

Another fight delay. This time Razak is asked to remove his ankle wraps before he can fight. Both fighters look strong and ready for a win.

Round 1 – Kolby comes out with a couple of strong punches, however Razak keeps his distance with his kicks. Razak is able to hit Kolby with a strong cross punch and he goes down. Razak takes the advantage and begins his continuous ground and pound. Kolby is unable to regain himself and cannot defend. Ref stops the fight and Razak wins by TKO. Kolby clearly got his bell rung as he takes his time getting up.

135 lbs.: Sabrina Garcia (1-0) vs. Alice Yauger (debut)

The first female fight of the night and the crowed explodes in cheers. Alice comes into the ring bouncing and seems excited to be here.  Sabrina comes in focused with a look of determination.

Round 1 –  Sabrina kicks as Alice strikes. Sabrina attempts to clinch and manages to get Alice to the fence. Alice defends as Sabrina is pushed back to the mat but she regains top side mount then moves to full mount to attempt the ground and pound. Sabrina briefly loses control but regains full mount and continues the ground and pound.  Alice is able to keep calm and reverses, only for Sabrina to do the same. Solid elbows and strikes from Sabrina continue. Alice turns to stomach to defend but can’t keep Sabrina off.  Sabrina pounds again, however Alice is saved by the bell.

Round 2 –  Sabrina’s confidence is soaring as the bell rings and she comes in with a right kick. Alice throws a few punches but Sabrina gets a single leg takedown and Alice lands in the fence. Sabrina gets into half guard position and then full mount as Alice again tries to defend. Sabrina continues to pound and keep her weight on Alice to keep control. Alice fights hard to bump and escape but Sabrina keeps control and continues with fists to the face. Alice finally gets a reversal, however Sabrina gets her arm and attempts an armbar but again Alice is saved by the bell.

Round 3 –  Alice is bleeding but continues. She gets a good jab in and Sabrina gets a left punch and clinches. Alice is able break away however Sabrina comes in again and pushes her to the fence. Sabrina gets the take down slam and ends up in half guard. Alice can’t keep control and Sabrina gets her arm again as she rolls into top guard and is able to defend. Alice is now attempting to strike but Sabrina is able to lock her up and prevent contact. Bell rings and they wait for the judges’ decision. By unanimous decision Sabrina Garcia wins. So far the best fight of the night.

135 lbs.: Chris Gutierrez (2-0) vs. Brandon Seyler (2-0)

Both fighters mirror each other in confidence, posture,  and appear ready to work.

Round 1 –  Chris gets a kick in to Brandon’s head but Brandon counters with take down. Chris creates space and kicks from ground to keep Brandon away and does not get up. Brandon  re-initiates by driving in and getting half guard control. Chris is able to get to his feet only for Brandon to take him down once again. Chris  is able to create space again with leg kicks from the ground but Brandon finds an opening and gets top guard. Bell rings.

Round 2 –  Chris gets a solid right kick to Brandon’s thigh but he is not affected. Ref stops fight because Chris continues to the grab fence and a point is taken away. They begin again and each fighter gets solid leg kicks in but Brandon follows his up and pushes to the fence. Both continue to fight for control. Chris foot stomps. Brandon tries for a single leg but doesn’t get it. Neither opponent gets anymore shots in as the bell rings. The crowed is showing their displeasure with the fighters.

Round 3 – Once again both fighters kick. Brandon attempts a slam but is unable to execute.  Brandon finally gets his take down and lands in guard. Chris tries for triangle but can’t get it. Chris is able to stand and they both get back up. Neither fighter is showing aggression as the crowd gets frustrated. Each land a few punches and kicks with no effect. Chris lands a running knee to Brandon’s head and another kick that makes contact but does not do any damage and the bell rings. Chris appears frustrated after the bell at the point loss and awaits judges’ decision. DRAW from the judges.

205 lbs.: Joshua Foster (6-4) vs. James Hall (5-8)

The heavyweights look calm and focused.

Round 1 – After they touch hands they spend a minute sizing each other up.  James gets two solid kicks in to Josh’s leg. Josh follows up with a punch that connects along with several knee attempts. Josh catches another kick attempt by James and gets the take down but gets kicked in the face in the process. It doesn’t stop him as he grounds and pounds until the ref stops the fight. James gets up after the fight is over and is obviously dazed. We are told that this is James last fight and he is retiring at the age of 44.

119 lbs.: Amber Stautzenberger (3-1) vs. Lacey Schuckman (8-6)

XKO history being made as the main event tonight is a female bout. Both women show quiet confidence as they enter the ring.

Round 1 – Both fighters come in fast with strikes and then clinch. Lacey gets the take down but Amber immediately reverses and ends up in top guard position.  Amber is attempting strikes to the face but Lacey easily defends until Amber moves to side mount. Amber gets in several punches and elbows to Lacey’s face as well as knee blows to her ribs. Lacey fights to get some control and is able to lock her legs around Amber again and creates space. They get back up and start all over again. After a few weak strikes from each of them Amber is able to clinch and push black to the fence. She gets several knee strikes in that appear to cause Lacey some damage. Amber drives her opponent into the fence and is able to keep control until the bell rings.

Round 2 – Lacey comes in strong with a few kick attempts but Amber clinches and uses it to push Lacey to the fence. More knees from Amber but Lacey is able to reverse and drive Amber into the fence. Lacey is able to get Amber’s back but is unable to hold it while their standing. Eventually Lacey is able to grab Amber’s legs and complete a takedown. Lacey lands in open guard. Amber is able to create space and they both stand once again. The clinching continues against the fence, both fighters struggling for control. Amber tries to get an advantage with foot stomping and knee strikes but they do not seem effective. Lacey gets in a solid right hook only for Amber to counter with a knee strike. Just before the bell, Lacey is able to get a takedown throw.

Round 3 – Both women come in strong. More strike attempts but they clinch up quickly. Amber again uses the fence to her advantage, driving with knee strikes. Back and forth they reverse, each looking for and opening. Failed take down attempt by Amber followed by more foot stomps. Amber gets the takedown finally and ends up in top guard only to stand up and strike, going for the ground and pound. Lacey creates space with her legs and they both stand once again. The bell rings after more clinching and advantage attempts against the fence. Fighters go to their corners to await judges’ decision.

Unanimous decision goes to Amber.
