Dedicated mother of two excited to step into the MMA cage for the very first time

San Antonio, TX, November 6, 2013 – Houston born, San Antonio resident Fatima “Ferocious” Mallet (Amateur MMA 0-0) is planning her MMA debut November 23rd at the upcoming Belts of Honorius 3 card in Austin, TX.

Mallet, representing Luling Mixed Martial Arts, holds a full-time job, she’s a part time instructor and a mother of two. Even with her busy schedule, Mallet is fully dedicated to fulfilling the goals she has set for herself as a fighter and martial artist.

“My plans for the mixed martial arts world is to go as far as I possibly can with the guidance of my coaches. I have a strong, dedicated team backing me up, and I have my better half and their support. My plans are to keep training and teaching [martial arts] as long as life allows me to. It’s something I love to do and don’t see myself stopping any time soon. I don’t think we ever reach perfection. If we think we have a technique down perfect then it’s time to drill it a thousand times more. Reaching a black belt isn’t the end of the journey- it’s merely the beginning. Martial Arts is a beautiful thing to do, whether you do it as a hobby or career. There are endless counters to counters and entries to one technique; it can never get old,“ said Mallet.

When TXMMA asked Mallet if she thought she would be preparing to step into an MMA cage when she first started training she responded as such; “Honestly, no; not originally. I joined the program when I heard they offered Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at that academy. I love the art and have a passion for it. Seeing the dedication my teammates [have], the obstacles they overcome during fight camp, and watching them give their all in that cage definitely gave me the desire to jump in there myself.”

Mallet shall strive for victory in her first mixed martial arts bout when she fights Jacksonville based fighter, Kourtnie “Scrappy” Goodman (amateur MMA, 1-0). Mallet is planning to let “actions speak louder than words” when she steps into the cage November 23rd. “ I know the difference between arrogance and confidence so I’m saying this with all confidence that you will see me put it all out there on the table and follow my coaches instructions. I am very strong willed so that will channel into my performance in the fight. I always give my best and this being my debut I think an extra mile on top of my usual extra one will be given,” said Mallet.

Mallet would like to “thank God for giving me my strength, my husband for his support, my kids and family as my inspiration, my coaches King Webb and Wilbur Wood and his wife Dora for the time and knowledge they’re investing in me, my training partners for being there when I need them and the fans that keep me going.”

Nael Chavez’s Belts of Honorius 3 is an amateur MMA card set for November 23 in Austin, TX. All proceeds benefit the non-profit Enlightened Warrior Youth program. Tickets can be bought at cagetix.com
