Texas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Competitors Represent at the 2013 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds

Some of our own Texas Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors traveled to Long Beach, CA this past weekend (November 2-3) to represent the state at the 2013 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship, one of the most prestigious BJJ-format submission grappling tournaments in the world.

Taking place at the Walter Pyramid on the campus of California State University Long Beach, the same site as the BJJ Mundials, the IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship (No Gi Worlds) typically draws in some of the top grapplers from all across the nation and abroad as well with competitors flying in from as far as Brazil and Japan for a chance to compete and win the coveted title of No-Gi World Champion.

This year no less than 12 Texas BJJ representatives earned that title with gold medal finishes at the 2013 IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship, a very impressive accomplishment and indicative of the sport’s growth here in the lone star state.

Adding to that, Texas BJJ reps earned at least 26 more medals (we may have missed a few) with as many athletes coming in with second and third place finishes to represent Texas BJJ in fine fashion.

Below is a listing of Texas medalists at the 2013 IBJJF No-Gi Worlds. If we missed any, please let us know and we’ll add them on.

Also, there are some pictures below courtesy of Mike Calimbas Photography. Prints and downloads for licensed commercial usage can be purchased onsite at www.mikecalimbas.com/BJJ.
