Jacksonville’s Kourtnie “Scrappy” Goodman not old enough to vote but old enough to focus on MMA success

Jacksonville, TX, November 7, 2013 – 17 year old Texas native Kourtnie “Scrappy” Goodman is an undefeated fighter representing Rusk MMA. “Scrappy” will be looking to take another step in progressing her mixed martial arts career on November 23rd when Enlightened Warriors hosts the upcoming Belts of Honorius 3 card in Austin, TX. “Scrappy” may not be old enough to vote, but she is old enough to know what she wants in life and is driven to succeed. Though she is young, she is dedicated to fulfilling her dreams and is willing to make the sacrifices necessary to evolve as a fighter and make a name for herself in the MMA scene.

“Right now I’m pursuing my martial arts career with fully force. My future is uncertain, for now I’m taking life day by day. I started training 3 years ago when a friend of mine got me into it. My friend had claimed I could not do it. I went that week to try it out and have been training ever since. When I started training I had no idea I would be fighting. As I continued the sport I loved it more and more and wanted to practice every aspect of it I could. I plan on going as far as I can in the sport. I may be young but my age isn’t a factor. Anyone can have the same drive and tenacity as me,” said Goodman.

Kourtnie Goodman will look to maintain her undefeated record and make it two consecutive wins when she takes on San Antonio based fighter Fatima “ Ferocious” Mallet (amateur MMA, 0-0). Scrappy does not envy Mallet’s position because she understands all too well the pressure and nerves that play into a fighter’s career debut. Having recently gone through this experience herself and having one fight under her belt already makes Goodman confident she knows what to expect and how to prepare. She told TXMMA, “This fight will be no different than my first. I’ll go in that cage and do what I know how to do. My entire game is a strong point. I have worked my training to be as well of a rounded fighter as I am.”

Goodman understands that aside from talent and dedication fighters must put on a show and be exciting if they are going to be remembered so she wants to assure our readers that her match with Mallet will be one to look for forward too. She is confident that her hard work will pay off come fight night, “I have worked my training to be as well of a rounded fighter as I am And as far as the outcome we will all just have to wait and see. Fatima is from a strong camp just as I am. It will be a battle.” Only 17 years old and already determined to succeed as a mixed martial artist. Kourtnie “Scrappy” Goodman is looking to come out the victor on November 23rd and will look to make a statement when the cage door is locked. Goodman will come ready to honor her nickname and put on a crowd pleasing scrap that will ensure all the fans in attendance remember her name the next day.
