BJJ Classic Texas State Championships puts $3,000 on the line for 8 Man Black Belt Pro Division

1239606_361931567270277_52597387_nDUNCANVILLE, TX, September 27, 2013 – The BJJ Classic Texas State Championships is coming up on October 26th in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with Christopher Story bringing his unique brand of submission-only grappling events to the Bob knight Fieldhouse in Duncanville. As part of this event, BJJ Classic is also going all-in with their newest attraction for fans and competitors alike – the elite 8-Man Black Belt Pro Division.

“The concept is simple,” said Story about the invite-only prize money division. “This will be submission only with no points and no time limit to save themselves. Each competitor must overcome the other by submitting them to win each match. Whether it takes 5 minutes or 45 minutes to submit their opponent, each match does not end until someone taps out. This is the purest form of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ever. Each of the black belts are hand-picked by the BJJ Classic Staff and invited to compete in the Pro Division. This is not a division in which just anyone can sign up for.”

As is such, Story and his staff have combed through hours of tournament footage, stats, and have even gone as far as quietly scouting out the black belts at tournaments.

This year’s line-up consists of some of the best black belts around the southwest weighing in from 150lbs- 185lbs.

Here’s the complete list of competitors for October 26th.

  • Christopher Westfall – (Team Lutter)
  • Carlos Diego Ferreira- (Team Farreira)
  • Jason Soliz – (TX3CMMA)
  • Rico Bastos (Nova Uniao)
  • Jarrod Clontz – (American Fight Company)
  • Robert Yamashita (Elite MMA)
  • Albert Hughes – (Genesis Jiu-Jitsu)
  • TBD

The 1st place winner gets a $3,000 cash prize! The list is final, but the bracket of who fights who is yet to be released. In fact BJJ Classic is interested to hear the opinion of the jiu-jitsu community of who they would like to see matched up so long on to Facebook and visit their BJJ Classic Page to let them know who you think should fight who in the first round of the division.
