Midland, TX, September 16, 2013 – Professional MMA makes its return to West Texas this Friday, September 20th with Prize Fighting Championship 3 taking place at the Midland Center on 105 North Main Street.

Run by Denver, CO based Seth Daniels, a Katy, TX native, Prize Fighting Championship is the latest incarnation of his Fight to Win brand, one that he’s continued to use for BJJ tournaments through the years. He’s also used the moniker in the past to bring MMA events to Houston, Austin, and Dallas. F2W hasn’t been back since 2010 but he’s looking to make inroads back into the state for MMA starting with this latest event in Midland.

“I’m very lucky to have the opportunity to promote in Texas again,” said Daniels. “We will be bringing in a new set of fans that we hope will become fans of all of MMA and not just PFC. We really hope to be able to bring a lot of our talent from the Rocky Mountain region also, all the while bringing up a lot of Texans for our other shows here and there also. Overall I’d like to have 3-4 shows in Texas a year to add to our schedule and bring some more value to the MMA community.

PFC 3 Main Event Preview – Tony Sims vs. Mitchell Hale

The main event for PFC 3: Rebels features lightweight champion Tony Sims (7-1, Elevation Fight Team) taking on West Texas vet Mitchell Hale (7-5, Future Fitness Fight Team) in defense of belt. Hale won the belt with a huge first round KO over Chase Hackett this past January. He’ll look to do the same in this one as he looks to continue his run as ‘the face of PFC.’

“The biggest concern is that I am favored more in this fight, probably more than either of my previous ones and that puts some pressure on me. I simply can’t lose this fight or I take three steps back from where I was. I have to win.”

Meanwhile the hometown favorite Mitchell Hale will be stepping into this one very upset-minded after coming off a loss in his last bout.

“I feel great, feel focused on making up for that loss, bettering my skills and winning a belt,” said Mitchell. With 12 fights he’ll have experience on his side. Texas fans will see if that translates into a win this Friday.

Luis Luna hopes seeking second straight win vs. Colorado native Ryan Schultz

The co-main event of the evening features another Texas vs. Colorado matchup in the form of Luis Luna (8-4, Warrior Elite) taking on Ryan Schultz (23-12, Trials Martial Arts) in a 155 lbs. superfight matchup.

According to PFC officials this matchup is one that is expected to be ‘loud and fast’ if both fighters fight according to their respective reputations.

“I know Ryan’s capable of great things but I’m capable of whooping his ass,” said Luis Luna about his opponent. With 35 fights on his record, Schultz will come in as the more experienced fighter when they step into the cage but Luna isn’t intimidated. “Oh, most definitely his experience is a concern but it’s not something I’m not used to. I train with really accomplished guys. Experience is a big factor, sure, but so is strength and speed. It all comes together and you have to be concerned and prepared for all of it.

Not having fought since December 2012, Schultz is also eager to get back in and throw down against his equally-eager opponent.

“I like to fight man. I got the itch to get back in there and I just like to scrap so I decided to go down and fight in Texas. I’m definitely focused on the fight and my performance.”
