DFW Pro Prospect Camron Couch Keeps It Rolling With Title Win In Third Amateur Fight

945950_497462876995037_1067419471_nDALLAS, TX, August 4, 2013 – Another Dallas area MMA representative brought a title belt back to the Metroplex this past weekend in Mohler MMA’s Camron Couch (3-0).

We last featured this 23 year old fighter way back in December 2011. Back then he was focused exclusively on grappling with the former wrestler spending time in Brazil to train with Gordo, Dennis Asche and crew down at Connection Rio. He’s been busy since then spending the past two years coaching wrestling and working in the MMA program over at Team Mohler.

Camron Couch successfully transitioned onto the MMA side with a TKO win over Cody Florence at Ascend Combat (Louisiana) this past March and would follow that up with another TKO victory on May 11th on the same promotion over Spenser Berniard.

The 23 year old would face his biggest challenge this past Saturday, August 3rd in taking on 11-fight veteran Tim Roman (5-6) for the Ascend Combat welterweight title in his just his third MMA fight.

It was a test he would pass with flying colors as he took home a unanimous decision win en route to bringing the belt back to DFW.

“It was a good fight,” says Cameron. “We had a battle and he got me with some good punches but I’m happy to get the win. I enjoyed fighting for the title but just winning is awesome because it makes all the sacrifice worth it.”

With a heavy output so far since debuting earlier this year, Camron Couch plans on defending his title in Louisiana this December and then focusing back on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition as well – possibly with an eye towards the Pan-Ams in early 2014 and the rest of the major competitions en route to a pro MMA career.

Considering his early success, this prospect is definitely one to watch in the near future. Keep an eye on this kid.
