It is that drive that has led him to become extremely focused on this upcoming fight. That focus has fighting on his mind at all times, with every breath. He began stepping up the intensity and focus of his training after his last fight, a first round KO victory over Miguel Flores. Although Hubble says that he is still learning everyday about himself as a fighter at this point in his career, that fight provided him with a lot of positives to work with. The least of which not being the importance of constantly seeking the finish.
Kirk feels as though he has made great strides in his training, as he has never worked so hard to improve all aspects of his game. All that focus and extreme intensity in his training has him feeling like his cardio, speed, and power are all, better that they have ever been. He also feels that it is that same intensity that leads to his greatest challenge as a mixed martial artist. Always being one of those people that tries to get in the extra rounds on the bag, puts him at risk of over training. He is having to learn to listen to his body and temper himself into skipping those extra workouts and sparring sessions before they become detrimental. That balance is one that he is going to have to find if he is going to stay healthy and reach his goal of fighting six to eight times in 2013.
Hubble sites his extremely talented, “hard work the hard way” mentor Robert Villegas as his greatest influence as a fighter. Hubble would like to thank everyone that makes this life possible for him. Because he couldn’t imagine his life any other way. Kirk is looking forward to putting his skills on display and putting on the most exciting fight he possibly could. And when he is done entertaining the crowds at Rocks Xtreme MMA 2 this Saturday March, 23 2013 at the American Bank Center, in Corpus Christi TX, he plans on taking a day off. Then he will get back to work and looking to make the move down to 145 for his next fight in May.
