ARLINGTON, TX, January 13, 2013 – It was a rough lead up to the latest edition of Xtreme Knockout for the Bussey Family with the fight card changing several times leading up to fight time but in the end they pulled off another entertaining event with XKO 17 happening at The GYM this past Saturday in Arlington.

XKO 17 was originally intended to showcase an undefeated prospect Rashad Coulter taking on Ciprian Hangan but instead it featured another fighter on his way up with 23 year old Hayward Charles scoring his fourth straight first round submission over Houston resident Edgar Verdin in the main event of the evening to bring his overall record up to 7-4. With a fight record including all of his victories ending by way of tapout it should be surprise that this one ended the same way as well. One can only speculate on what is next for the DFW resident Charles considering his recent impressive streak but perhaps a title shot or higher-profile bout is surely in order.

Meanwhile in the co-main event of the evening, Irving’s Armando Servin also ended this by way of first round submission but this time it was using his striking arsenal as he was able to eventually overwhelm debuting fighter Daniel Polomsky in the first round of their co-main event bout via ground-and-pound from the mounted position.

As for the rest of the bouts on the evening, there were several highlights.

Tristan Grimsley and Julian Pinales went back in forth in their bout with the debuting Pinales moving ahead with strikes and Grimsley looking to set for the opening to set up the submission. In the end he got just that and brought his record to an even .500 at 3-3 overall.

Meanwhile, Copperas Grove / Killeen prospect Geoffrey Neal scored brought his pro record up to 2-0 with a second round TKO over Zack Board in their bout, a late addition to the XKO card. With this victory the former football star Neal now solidifies his status as one of the top up-and-coming welterweight prospects to look out for statewide.

Andre Kavanaugh, Sebastian Black, and David Armas complete the winners circle at XKO 17 with impressive wins in their own bouts to round off the evening of action in Arlington.
