Legacy Fighting Championship 16 by Mike CalimbasDALLAS, TX, December 16, 2012 – Legacy FC has a new flyweight champion in Will Campuzano after their latest trip to the DFW Metroplex this past Friday night with Legacy Fighting Championship 16 taking place at the Allen Events Center.

A vaunted dangerous striker in the mold of trainer Saekson Janjira, the new champion was able to deliver a crushing knee to the dome of Jimmy Flick and follow up with some ground and pound to win their consensus #1 vs. #2 divisional matchup. For his part, Flick did well to try and use his wrestling to win the fight and probably did enough to win the first round of the fight but Campuzano was just too savvy and managed to adjust well enough to finish the fight in short order and get the title belt around his waist.

Not to be outdone, the co-main event of the evening produced what was undoubtedly the fight of the night between Steven Peterson and Matt Hobar.

Legacy Fighting Championship 16 by Mike CalimbasWith their first fight from this past summer fresh on everyone’s minds, there was a lot riding on this fight and the two fought like in their fifteen minute contest. Neither man backed down and both had their moments but in the end it was Matt Hobar finding redemption to pick up the decision win and even their score at 1-1.

As for the rest of the undercard, it delivered a plethora of finishes with only three out of thirteen fights going to the judges’ scorecards. We could literally list the winners of most every fight on the card if we were to go through all the impressive performances but let’s just say there’s a lot of talent coming out of the card and it should shake up some of the divisional rankings. We’ll go through all this in a related article coming soon but for now check out the quick results, fight night awards, and even photo gallery below.
