PLANO, TX November 26, 2012 – Central Texas played host to the third Justin Miller-promoted fight card with Element Fighting Championship 3 taking place at the Plano Convention Center this past November 17th.

The card suffered a huge blow on the day before the fight at planned headliner Marcus “Wrecking Ball” Hicks missed weight by over ten pounds for his planned lightweight title fight against Marshall, TX native Derrick Krantz. The discrepancy caused the main event bout to be TKO’d before the fighters even stepped into the cage but the show went on nonetheless with eight action-packed bouts taking place in North Texas.

Despite the loss of the Hicks vs. Krantz matchup, EFC was still able to pull off what they described on their Facebook page as “their best show to date.” Surely that had a lot to with the title bouts that did happen as the organization was able to crown two new champions on the evening with two exciting title bouts.

In the new main event of the night, Jason House was able to improve his record to 9-5 and earn the EFC welterweight title after beating Brandon Farran by a close split decision in what was said to be a grinder of a fight for five rounds of action.

In the co-headliner, Chris Jones was able to take care of business and earn his own title at featherweight with a second round submission of Javier Obregon. “Lionheart” (Jones) now moves on an impressive 8-1 record in his fight career with this victory and should be on to bigger and better challenges in no time after capturing the second pro title of his career. (also holder of XKO 145 lbs. title)

As for the rest of the card, it featured some other up-and-comers picking up wins, namely Houston’s Akira Smith (4OZ Fight Club) who was able to score a tough decision victory over tough DFW resident and Saekson Janira-trained prospect JP Cole.

See quick results from all the bouts from EFC 3 in Plano below.
