2012 Texas Open Results, Recap, Photos, and a Ton of Match Video

HOUSTON, TX November 26, 2012 – In case you guys missed it the 2012 Texas Open went down this past November 17th at the Legends Sports Complex in Spring, TX (North Houston).

Put on by Fight to Win / World Grappling Circuit, the annual event drew teams from all over the state with Solis Martial Arts coming up the big winner in the team standings – winning their second F2W/WGC tournament title of the year and becoming the very first in the promotions’ history to win two team championships in two different cities following their win just a few months ago at the Austin Open.

1st Place – Solis Martial Arts
2nd Place – Gracie Barra
3rd Place – BJJ Revolution
4th Place – Elite MMA
5th Place – Team Tooke

 

2012 Texas Open Superfight Tournament Recap

 

In addition to the usual array of individual competition (results here), the tournament also featured two 8-man superfight tournaments in the -200 and -155 weight classes with the winner of each bracket taking home a cool $1,000 in prize money.

This part of the tournament drew some top competitors from around the state and even a few world champions with the resulting matches proving to be exciting for everybody on hand to catch them live.

In the end, it was Rico Bastos of Nova Uniao winning in the 200 lbs. class while Jason Soliz of 3rd Coast MMA brought home the win in the -155 lbs. and under division.

The two faced very worthy adversaries in the finals with Bastos winning over of Elite MMA’s Robert Yamashita and Soliz taking his match over Gracie Barra ‘s Brandon Mullins by a close referee decision.
