HOUSTON, TX, October 30, 2012 – As one of the more seasoned amateur combatants fighting out of the Houston area, Paradigm Training Center’s Edgar Juarez has gathered a good bit of perspective when It comes to getting to know the MMA world.

Currently 4-2 with only 1 fight going to a decision, he’s had his fair share of success but not without lessons that will stick with him too.

His last fight against Brandon Gauthier at Cage Combat 10 sticks in his mind.

“I wanted to get a KO so bad that I forgot my plan which was to use my BJJ if I was losing the stand up. I almost had him at the last second. I am pretty sure I would have finished him but time ran out. I got a lot of respect for that guy. He’s a bright future in this port.”

As for himself, he’s certainly not putting any limits on what he can do either. He’s got some plans – namely to go pro next year – but he knows he has some more work to do to make that happen successfully also.

“I think that I have to make an impression and turn heads because that’s what people like to see when they go to the fights. I expect and know all that is going to happen is that I will get better and better. That’s why I work hard every day. I definitely want to be the type of fighter people remember.”

Looking ahead to this Saturday, he’s hoping to showcase his style against debuting fighter Wesley Hermes at CDM’s Elite Amateur Combat 4.

He was originally scheduled to fight Beaumont native Joel Scott but the late change doesn’t bother him at all either.

“I just want to get in the cage and dominate,” he says about the fight.

Working will All-American Wrestling Coach Grant Johnson, Igor Santos, and others at Paradigm, he’s relished what training has brought out in him mentally and physically. He thinks all that groundwork will turn him from a pure striker to a more complete fighter also.

“I feel great and I am going to win. Then after this I just want to keep training hard.”

Fighter Acknowledgements

I just want to thank God for all the blessings and also thank all my coaches: Igor Santos aka master splinter, wrestling coach Grant Johnson, and my striking coach Geohn Cho. I also want to thank all my friends from Paradigm. – Edgar Juarez
