HOUSTON, TX, September 17, 2012 – This past weekend, Grapplers Quest came to Houston to host their own version of a Texas State Grappling Championships at the Legends Sports Complex in Spring, TX.

We were not personally on hand for this event but according to those that attended, it was another long and competitive day of grappling highlighted by some out-of-town teams and competitors coming in to get some work in.

Specifically, Team Lovato was in town with Rafael Lovato Jr. competing and getting some work in prior to his upcoming 20-minute submission-only superfight with Kayron Gracie upcoming at the Metamoris Pro in San Diego on October 14th.

He won his division that also included Carlos Diego Ferreira and Alex Martins who can in second and third respectively.

Meanwhile in the No-GI, Carlos Diego Ferreira secured the open weight title while facing some tough opponents including non-other than Bill “The Grill” Cooper.

We’ll have more on this edition of Grappler’s Quest as we get it but for now, check out this incredible match between Ferreira and Cooper courtesy of our friend Joel McClain.
