Premier Fight Series 2 Preview – A Look at September 22nd Fight Night in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, TX, September 8, 2012 – The next exciting night of professional MMA in the Fort Worth is fast approaching with Jesse Rodriguez Productions presenting Premier Fight Series 2 at LaGrave Field on September 22nd of this month.

The event will be the first mixed martial arts event to be held at the nearly century old ballpark that’s currently home to the Fort Worth Cats, an independent minor league team.

Throughout its long and historic tenure, LaGrave Field has seen names like Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson, Joe DiMaggio, Willy Mays, and many other legendary sportsmen compete on its field.

Come September 22nd, it will add a whole host of MMA fighters to that list of athletes that have competing here as well.

Premier Fight Series 2 will be headlined by Keller, TX resident Chas Skelly putting his undefeated record and “UFC prospect” status on the line when he takes on Austin’s Nick “The Ghost” Gonzalez.

The charismatic and sometimes moustache-wearing Skelly has won an impressive nine fights in a row dating back to March 2009 while besting fighters like UFC vet Daniel Pineda and most recently BJJ brown belt Luis Vega in that span.

Nick “The Ghost” Gonzalez

He’ll be taking on a tough test however in Nick Gonzalez, an EliteXC, K-1, and Strikeforce veteran who’s fought some tough opponents himself, like UFC vets Dustin Neace and Yves Edwards.

This should prove to be a tough test for both men with the result telling as far who’ll go on to achieve more career recognition in the near future.

As for the rest of the card, it’s littered with plenty of local names from the DFW Metroplex that should ensure attending fans have a vested interested in many of the nights’ outcomes.

There’s Tony Tipton, one of the head BJJ instructors of Dallas/Fort Worth’s Genesis BJJ. He’ll be looking for his second MMA win after debuting in South Texas earlier this summer when he takes on Jose Cabral. He should definitely have a solid crowd behind him when he competes in Ft. Worth for the first time as a mixed martial artist.

Also notable is a female bout featuring Amber “The Apex Predator” Stautzenberger making her pro debut after a seven bout amateur stint against Las Vegas-based upstart Paige VanZant.

“12 Gauge” Paige VanZant

Many of you may know Van Zant from her recent trip to Corpus Christi, Texas to take on Jordan Gaza at UWF’s Tournament of Warriors Finale earlier this summer. She picked up a close decision win there to start her own pro career off at 1-0 but Stautzenberger will be looking to stop that streak at one as she looks to start her own career off with a bang.

The rest of the card should prove to be no less exciting as well with the rest of the bouts paired up by matchmaker Rafael Casias.

Here’s the full card for Premier Fight Series 2 below at it stands today.
