FORT WORTH, TX, July 29, 2012 – The latest promotion to bring professional MMA to Texas kicked off their first event this past Saturday with Premier Fight Series 1 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Much of the hype leading up to the event centered on the featherweight main event featuring undefeated prospect Chas Skelly taking on BJJ brown belt Luis Vega.

A former NAIA all-American at Oklahoma City University and state champion at Azle High School (Azle, TX), Chas had built an 8-0 record prior to this bout including 2 wins over current UFC fighter Daniel Pineda. It would also be his second bout in as many months after a two-year layoff due to injury.

Looking to fast-track his development nationally by taking on tough tests around the state, Skelly would face a tough opponent in this one with the South Texas Luis Vega, who would step into the cage with an 8-2 record.

“The Law” refused to be put away but Skelly would score the unanimous decision win as he went to the judges’ scorecards for only the second time in his career.

No word on what is next for Skelly but a move up to the international (read: UFC) level should all but elementary at some point this year.

Below are results for the remainder of the evening’s bouts at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Premier Fight Series 1 – Quick Results

Chas Skelly over Luis Vega by unanimous decision.
An’Twan Williams over Victor Reyna by submission (armbar), RD2.
