The card showcased eight bouts in all with many fighters from the area competing in this newly minted event.
Special contributor Stan Manuel was on hand covering results for TXMMA.
Starting things off with a bang, local favorite Dustin Adams (American Revolution) and debuting pro Kolby Adams (Twin Wolves) went out to bang literally. The two were swinging for the fences right from the opening bell with Dustin seemingly gaining the edge. It was closer in the second with the two trading shot for shot. The third seemed to favor Kolby with Dustin slowing down. In the end the judges awarded the split decision victory to Kolby Adams, giving him the win to start him off undefeated as a pro.
Next up, Jonathan Lopez picked up his first win, moving to 1-1, with a unanimous decision over Danny Flick that saw him relentlessly attack submissions from his guard to counter the Oklahoman’s wrestling prowess.
Patrick Ybarra and Alfredo Ortegon were up next and the Corpus Christi-based Ybarra wasted no time in attacking Ortegon with leg kicks before scoring the first round armbar.
Also winning by submission was Killeen’s own Geoff Neal. Fighting as a pro for the first time after a standout 10-1 amateur career, the former Copperas Grove linebacker quickly scored the takedown before taking the first round win by rear-naked choke over David Mcafee.
Next up was another Corpus Christi fighter in Chris Pecero taking on Matt Mazurek. It was Mazurek starting off strong in this one taking down the Dutch-style kickboxer early in the fight but Pecero was more active overall and did more in the way of damage. In the end that weighed more than takedowns in the eyes of the judges who gave him the decision win.
The next two bouts featured two of the more highly-rated prospects in the state in Paragon/FCFA fighters Roger Narvaez and Jimmy Flick. Both would validate that distinction with first round wins, both by quick submissions in the first round.
Jimmy “The Brick” would take his over Wesley Dunlop by head-and-arm triangle after a quick takedown as usual while Roger aka “The Silverback” finished Aaron Glynn via first round rear-naked-choke.
Of note was Jimmy Flick in his post-fight interview, calling out Will Campuzano in Robstown as he did Chad Robichaux after his last fight for UWF 4 in Corpus Christi. Texas fans may remember that Flick was supposed to step in at Legacy 13 to face Campuzano before Will suffered an injury in training. By the sounds of things, he’s looking to actually make that fight happen sooner rather than later.
Last but not least in title action at “Blood and Glory” was heavy hometown favorite Robert Villegas against longtime veteran Jonathan Ivey.
It was Villegas taking the bout by workman-like unanimous decision to win over Ivey the Rock’s heavyweight belt to cap of the evening to conclude the promotion’s very first event.
It was a sold out crowd in attendance with lots of local support so look for more in the near future from Rock’s King of Supplements as they continue to do their part in furthering the sport in South Texas.
