Elite MMA fighter Trevin Giles looking to create problems for Silverback’s Calvin “Pepper” Cooper at Legacy Amateur Series 9

HOUSTON, TX, August 21, 2012 – In focus today for this Saturday’s Legacy Amateur Series 9 event happening at Houston’s Arena Theater is Elite MMA fighter Trevin Giles.

Currently sitting at 2-0 overall since beginning as an amateur in January of this year, this 20 year old could be one of the next great up-and-coming prospects out of the Houston area if feedback from his coaches and promoters is to be believed.

If nothing else, the manner of his victories in and of themselves merit notice for this young man.

After winning his first fight in January by submission in just over a minute, he was all set for a big test (literally) against 6’6” Micah Williams out of Gold Team this past April.

It was one he passed with flying colors.

“I knocked him out in under a minute so it went pretty well for me,” he says about that fight.

Instead of resting on his laurels though or basking in the glory of winning two fights in under two minutes, he’s jumped right back into the thick of things training at Elite MMA.

“Both of them (wins) were really exciting for me and made me hungry for more. I’ve improved a lot on every aspect of my fighting game. There is not one thing that I’m not getting better at and I’ve been training even harder to add to my winning streak. I’m personally not a very violent guy. If fighting wasn’t a sport I wouldn’t be doing it but while I’m here, I’m going to continue sending the message that I’m here to fight and that if you’re standing across the cage from me you have a problem on your hands.”

Next up to try and solve this problem is a debuting fighter out of Silverback Fight Club by the name of Calvin “Pepper” Cooper.

Although he (Pepper) is an unknown quantity with no in-cage experience, he’s also training with guys like Legacy pro heavyweight champion Derrick Lewis and Dale Mitchell on a regular basis, and he’s someone his teammates with much more experience (e.g.  David Armas) look to as someone that could surprise come fight night.

In short, he’s an opponent to be wary of but that doesn’t bother Mr. Giles.

“Generally I am a calm thinking person. I understand that people and circumstances aren’t always the same way so I am always prepared to adjust accordingly. As a fighter I have the same attitude. It doesn’t matter what the variables are. When I step in the cage everything is clear. At that point I’m the best and I just have to prove that to my opponent and everyone in attendance. As far as him (Cooper) as an opponent, I think of him as a serious threat and he will be treated like everyone else. There is no tomorrow.”

“This fight will not go to the judges. I don’t even want it going to the third round. He will be finished in two rounds or less. I am proud to go out and represent a great gym in Elite MMA and for everyone who believes in me.”
