Clayton Robinson motivated by those who said he’d never make it; Planning on proving them wrong versus Donnie Bell at Legacy 13

DALLAS, TX, August, 12, 2012 – Taking a fight on short notice can be a necessary yet unnerving experience for a young fighter. With future performance defined by where determination meets preparation, it can often be a risky decision with no absolutely certainty of how things can go.

That’s okay though.

Sometimes the biggest risks also come with the biggest rewards.

For Tulsa, OK native and Dallas, TX transplant Clayton “Sunshine” Robinson, that big payoff at the end is exactly what he’s betting on after taking on a short-notice bout with fellow area fighter Donnie Bell at Legacy 13 next Friday night.

“I got this fight on 2-weeks’ notice but I’m proud to be on this card and fight on one of the biggest shows outside of the UFC with six of my teammates,” he says about the decision to take the fight.”

Looking back, Clayton has never been one too shy about taking on fights anyways.

So far, he has six wins and three losses as a pro since debuting five years ago.

He jumped right into the pro ranks right after he began training. And his first fought were fights were within the first six months he’d been exposed to the sport.

“I just love everything about fighting. There are those nerves that get going right before the fight but after the first punch connects, it’s just an adrenaline rush and your training taking over from there.”

Speaking of training, Clayton prides himself of doing much and more of it. He feels ready for this upcoming fight, short notice or not.

“My day consists of training in the morning, afternoon then night. I train 15 to 20 hours a week so i can be ready for any fight. I train with a boxing coach, train my BJJ and then train my MMA with my coach Saif so I can be a well-rounded fighter. I set my goals pretty high for this sport and I want to prove to everyone that said I could not make it that I will. My mom was told once to stop letting me set my goals so high because I would not be able to reach them but I have reached every goal I have put my heart into. My next one is the UFC and I will make it.”

In order to get to that point, he’ll have to get past Donnie Bell – another tough young fighter with high hopes of his own.

“That it is a good match,” Clayton says about the upcoming fight. “He (Bell) is tough and a good wrestler but so am I, and I have better BJJ. He will try to rush me right off the bat and I will push his cardio then submit him in the 2nd round. I hope you have been training hard Donnie. You’re going to need it.”

“I want to say thank you to my Spencer MMA Apps and Triton Fight Center back home in Tulsa Oklahoma for your help molding me and to my teammates at Octagon MMA for getting me ready for this fight.”
