Texas Fighting Syndicate’s Burt McDonald on fighting good friend Casey Williams at Legacy 13

BURLESON, TX, August 11, 2012 – If you talk to any one close to Texas Fighting Syndicate MMA’s owner Burt MacDonald, chances are they’ll tell you he’s a pretty normal guy. Aside from running his gym and pursuing his own passion as a mixed martial arts fighter, he’s pretty much just like everybody else.

“I get up, go to work at Alcon Labs, and go home,” he says. “Then I let the dogs out and head to TFS to teach, train, and run my business before going home to eat and unwind with my family. Then the next day it starts all over again.”

Adding to that, he says he likes to hunt, fish, and wakeboard. Those are the things he loves to do in his spare time – which is becoming more and more of a rare commodity.

Listening to that description, Burt sounds like pretty much any other red-blooded American.

We all work hard, go home to our families, and try to find time for our hobbies. It’s just the American way.

For Burt, one of the biggest things he’s done in his life is carve out more time for one of his biggest passions (MMA) by opening up Texas Fighting Syndicate (TFS) to serve the Fort Worth area.

“One of my biggest passions is seeing my TFS Fight Team win, including myself. We work really hard as a team and seeing that payoff is priceless to me.”

As for his own career, he’s finished up 3-2 on the amateur circuit before split his first four pro bouts to end up with his current record of 2-2 going into Legacy 13.

Win some, lose some… he just loves to fight.

“It is important to me for them (TFS) to see me train as hard as I can, fight as hard as I can and not worry about winning or losing. I’m excited for the opportunity to be able to fight on this card. I fought for Mick back when I was an amateur and I have always wanted to fight for Legacy. It was definitely a personal goal.”

He’ll be fighting an opponent he respects and considers a good friend in F3’s Casey Williams.

“I know the man well and we are good friends and have tons of respect for each other. We both feel that this is a good matchup and confident we will put on a good show. I’ve been mixing up my boxing, wrestling and strength and condition heavily. We have been busy at TFS with lots of fights happening, so we pretty much stay close to being ready. I think it is going to end up being who has the better conditioning. He fights hard and I fight hard so I see who last longer will have their hand held up. We’re going to put on one hell of a show.”

“Thank you to Mick Maynard and everyone at Legacy, all my TFS family, coaches and the fight team, Texas Black Belt Academy, all of my loyal fans and my beautiful wife Tina. Everyone show up August 17 at the Dallas Convention Center to watch Legacy 13!”
