Lester Clark seeking championship redemption this Saturday at PCG’s Cowboys Extreme Cagefighting

AUSTIN, TX, August 2, 2012 – Somebody’s got some redeeming to do… At least that’s the mindset anyways for Lester Clark of Full Contact in Austin. The former ABG welterweight champion last fought in Killeen this past April, losing by TKO in the second round while losing his title in the process.

“I got destroyed in my title defense against Geoffrey Neal,” he told us bluntly without sugarcoating his thoughts or offering excuses about what happened that night.

“After winning the belt (against Joe Castaneda) I got complacent and took It for granted. Now I’m motivated to train as hard as I used to. I’m back to my true form and ready to redeem myself.

A journeyman electrician by trade, finding the time to train properly and dedicate as much time as he could has always been an issue,

“If I could afford it, I would just train and train. It’s really hard to work full-time and train properly. I’ve been trying to balance this thing for the past four years but you just have to stay dedicated. I’ve got keep myself ready to fight, both physically and mentally.”

Lester would love to progress to the point of turning pro one day, with one of his personal goals being to one day be recognized as relevant to the fans at that stage of the game.

All the while, he’s also working on being even more relevant to two big fans of his in particular – his two young boys.

“They’re both very big fans (of MMA) actually,” he says about his sons. “I’m trying to take my oldest son to the fight (this Saturday at Cowboys Dance Hall). He is very interested in MMA and I enjoy watching him learn. Being a parent is definitely more enjoyable than my day and it would be nice to teach MMA to others including my sons so it’s good for him to get exposed to the sport.”

What can his boys (and the fans) expect this Saturday night?

Excitement.

As we mentioned, Lester Clark is looking to redeem himself and he’ll do so with a title on the line when he takes on Jared Perez in the main event of the evening at PCG’s Cowboys Extreme Cagefighting.

“I tend to be the aggressor and push the pace. That part isn’t even intentional. It’s very natural for me to keep coming forward. That isn’t always a good thing though but that’s the way it is. My opponent, I know he knows what he’s doing if he’s in a title fight. I know he has a wrestling background likes to use kicks. I also enjoy kicks so it should be a good kickboxing match. I just want to fight my fight, throw my best attacks at him, and try to find a weakness. I going to be ready for a war and hope the fans enjoy the show.

Fighter Acknowledgements

I want to thank Sam Greenfield first and foremost. He has dedicated a lot of his personal time to my training and without him I would have never gotten in the ring. I also want to thank the people who fill the stands and allow us to live our dreams. Last but not least, God and family. – Lester Clark
