MCALLEN, TX, July 12, 2012 – When it comes to dominant fighters hailing from the Rio Grande Valley, not too many have as impressive a record as undefeated Francisco (Frank) Treviño. Ever since debuting as a pro in August 2008, this Muay Thai-based fighter has rattled off eight straight wins with all but one coming by way of a submission or technical knockout.

Five of those victories have come in the STFC promotion where he’s currently the organization’s undisputed middleweight champion.

“The highlight of my career so far was my fight with Will Florentino (STFC 9),” he says. “He was 4-1 at the time with his only loss being to Jacob Ortiz in a fight that he should have won. He’s a great Muay Thai fighter and was a purple belt in BJJ at the time so I know he was very ready for me. Beating him meant a lot. It was the most meaningful fight I’v e had.”

Moving on, Frank has done well to hone his own skills ever since that 2010 contest. He continues to work on his own Muay Thai skill set at the Muay Thai Institute of Texas under Kru Kayan and has continued to train in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Gracie Barra – first with Bela de los Santos and now under Tyler “Tubo” Bosard. Add to that some time cross-training with Luis Benavidez and Team Pound and he feels like he’s consistently getting better.

“My cardio is at a whole new level,” he says going into his next fight, this Friday night at STFC 21 at the McAllen Convention Center. “I’m feeling great, fast, strong, and motivated. STFC is a great show and they put on good events and give a lot to the community. I think that’s why the fans love them. From STFC to the fans and everybody else, there’s a lot of love for the sport down here.”

Frank will be taking on Corey Bellino, a police officer and himself an impressive MMA fighter with a lot of training experience and a 6-1 record to show for it. Throughout his own career, the FCFA/Paragon representative has only been beating once, by UFC veteran Darrill Schoonover in his own 2008 debut.

Frank looks forward to the challenge of facing a worthy adversary.

“I’ve got nothing bad to say about the man. He’s just another guy that I respect but I will say he’s at the wrong place at the wrong time. He’s in my way and I’m going to do my very best to get him out of the way. …I know he’s not just going to let me do that but by God Almighty, I’m going to F’in try my hardest. I want to win to prove to myself and everyone else that I am for real and I’m not to be taken lightly. I want to remain the only unbeaten fighter in the valley for a long time to come. This will be a tough and exciting fight. I hope the hard work pays off. Thank you to everyone for believing in me.”
