CDM Pre-Fight Interview – Manny Lozoya (Silverback Fight Club)

HOUSTON, TX, June 21, 2012 – Moving on with our interview series for CDM Promotions’ Elite Amateur Combat 3, we speak to Manny Lozoya of Silverback Fight Club.

Already a seasoned amateur fighter with 7 fights (3 title fights) under his belt, Manny has been no stronger to the ups-and-downs of MMA but he loves it all – calling it an unforgettable experience he wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. In short, does this because he loves it but he’s also looking to win considering he’s coming off the first two-fight losing streak of his career heading into this fight.

That in and of itself provides some added motivation for his 135 lbs. title fight with Cesar Del Angel this Saturday.

Read on to get the rest of his thoughts regarding this fight.

CDM Pre-Fight Interview – Manny Lozoya (Silverback Fight Club)

Manny, how did you get started in MMA?

Well actually one of my good friends I used to box with told me to try it out with him and I’ve never left It ever since! I love this sport because it has changed me into a whole new person. It has gotten me out of a lot of trouble and makes the not-so-good decisions way easier to avoid.

At what point did you decide you wanted to fight in addition to just train?

My buddies and I have always fought just for fun but I never thought I’d be this deep into it. I’m glad though. This has been an unforgettable experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

What do you think will make you successful at this sport in the long-run?

Just my hard work, my work ethic, dedication, and humbleness. Those are the things I try to keep in mind.

What else do you do with your time besides train?

I play soccer, work out, work full-time, and spend as much time as I can with my son and family. I also have to admit that I eat a LOT when I’m not training for a fight.

How do you feel about this fight on Saturday?

I’m hungry for the win, I’m hungry for the belt, and I’m hungry for victory. It’ll be another title for my family, myself, and my new team – Silverback Fight Club. There’s a lot of talent in that gym and I’m honored to be training among them. I’m coming off a loss… That’s definitely motivating me to get out there and do well. God willing, I’ll get the win. I’m gonna fight, never give up, and leave my heart in the cage for every single person supporting me. I’m doing whatever it takes for this win.

What’s next for you after this?

I just wanna stay active. God willing with no injury and no more breaks I can fight a lot more.

Any last words?

I wanna give thanks to my lord and savior Jesus Christ. Through him everything is possible and through him I still have a chance to be alive and love… I wanna thank my sponsor Blood Hound for the help and for sticking with me! Thanks to my coach Tony and everyone at Silverback and everyone who supports me no matter what! Thanks to my mom and dad who seems to make everything easier for me somehow and to everyone who enjoys seeing me fight and considers me a friend. I love you all.
