HOUSTON, TX, June 10, 2012 – Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling action was back in the Houston area this past Saturday as Martial Arts Mania in concert with Grand Prix Grappling held their USA BJJ Championships event at the Willowbrook Sports Complex in Northwest Houston.
All in all, an estimated 230 or so competitors or so showed up for a brisk day of competing in the GI ans No-GI divisions with the tournament ending just short of 4PM that afternoon.
Results are still pending as far as team titles go but we do know several teams from around the area performed well – including Team Tooke and Macaco’s Gold Team, which won no less than 12 gold medals and several silvers despite the fact that they only brought a team of 10 to compete on the day.
As for individual performances, the highlights of the day came in the form of three superfights featuring some top competitors.
Videos are below. As always, make sure to hit mute if the camera shutter sound bothers you since we’re shooting photos at the same time.
