KELLER, TX, May 29, 2012 – Undefeated DFW-based prospect Chas Skelly (Team Takedown) finally makes his long-awaited return to the cage at XKO 15 this Saturday night in Arlington.

It was little less than two years ago that Skelly was poised to take the next step when he was scheduled for a bout against Georgi Karakhanyan that would serve as a tournament qualifier at Bellator 28. Alas that was not to be with Skelly being forced out due to a foot injury. It’s been rumored that the former state wrestling champ was in talks with the UFC to join their ranks later in 2010 but we hadn’t seen him since.

Not wanting to come back at less than 100%, he’s been taking his time getting healthy and improving on his natural ability. Now he’s finally on his way back, ready to continue on with the path that had him linked Bellator and the UFC.

“I’ve been kicking some coconut trees and watching lots of Bloodsport, Chuck Norris, and Bruce Lee” he says about his time away. “I do all this while drinking Tabasco straight out of the bottle, because it makes me feel like a man.”

Despite his jest, Chas is all business when it comes to his preparations.

“I honestly feel great,” Chas said about this Saturday. With a full-time schedule at Team Takedown (he joined the team last year), Chas has dedicated all his time to training – mixing in swimming and video sessions with the usual assortment of circuit training, BJJ, striking, and sparring.

He also follows the Dolce “living lean” diet outside of competition, eating healthy while tapering down to a very strict diet in the weeks leading up to a fight in order to stay primed as a big 145 lbs. competitor. According to him, its tough sacrificing the Miller Lites and Reese’s Peanut butter Cups he craves so much but it’s something that’s a necessity as he looks to climb up to the pinnacle of the sport.

“My source of motivation is the fact that I have something to prove! In this game,” he says about his mindset heading into XKO 15. “If you’re not active and beating people up on a constant basis people forget about you. I have to get an impressive win under my belt, and show people that I’m still the best 145 around. I have to make it…I will settle for no less!”

With 2 submission wins already over the likes of another impressive Texan welterweight in Daniel Pineda, Chas could be a few short wins away from getting his own call up to the big leagues.

He’ll be looking for his next one against Jeremy Myers, a fellow Bellator vet who’ll be looking to get back on the winning track after suffering three losses in a row.

“From the looks of things my opponent is a tough guy with good takedown defense that likes to stay on the outside and strike. He will try several spinning backfists. However, he lacks a good ground game. I believe I can control where this fight takes place. I would say it will be a first or second round submission.”

“At this point I would have taken any fight. It has been a nightmare trying to get an opponent. Thank you to everybody who has stuck with me through this long layoff. My family, friends, Stephanie, and all of my “extended” family… Thank you Able Communications, Mask Chiropractic, David Kofford Framing for continuing to sponsor me!”
