PLANO, TX, April 30, 2012 – As Sean Malone initially updated everyone via his North Texas Fisticuffs blog, the Dominion Warrior promotion made their first Texas appearance this past Saturday night at the Plano Centre with 12 bouts completed on the night.

Based on feedback gathered around the web, it was a fun night of action highlighted by some exciting performances.

In the main event of the evening, Saekson Janjira coached fighter Charles Byrd won the promotion’s welterweight title with a surprising finish against “Hurricane” Ira Boyd. We say surprising because Byrd, known more for his Muay Thai, actually finished the fight via arm triangle submission, forcing the longtime vet Boyd to tap at 2:11 of the first round.

Following the bout, Ira would then announce his retirement from the sport after 12 years of action on the TXMMA scene.

The rest of the card featured a bevy of finishes with only one out of the twelve bouts going to the judges after a bloody battle.

We’d be remiss if we mentioned only a few performances over the others so we’ll just offer a blanket congratulations to all the winners on this card for their performances. Check out Sean’s post on NTF for a more detailed play-by-play on this event.
