Sean Spencer Says “Don’t Blink” When Black Magik Meets Derrick Krantz on Fight Game Friday

DALLAS, TX, December 1, 2011 – When it comes to the world of professional fighting, a fighter’s mentality can be just as integral to his success as any strike or submission move. Like progress in training, a fighter’s career is not just one progressive upward climb but a series of peaks and valleys that one must traverse to get to their end goal, wherever they may be. Like Rocky said in that infamous line in the series-ending movie, “life will bring you to your knees permanently if you let it. It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

That’s the type of attitude Sean Spencer will be bringing to the cage when he takes on Derrick Krantz in the main event of Fight Game (Universal Fight Game League) tomorrow night at the Dr. Pepper Arena.

Starting his professional career in 2009, the Bluefield, Virginia native is the type of fighter that hadn’t really felt adversity in his career until recently.  Transitioning into MMA from wanting to be a professional football player years ago, “Black Magik” experienced early success in the sport thanks to a blend of God-given talent and a tenacity that keeps him in the gym training instead of on the couch like any normal person. It’s that work ethic and relentlessness that’s allowed him to get his hand raised in six straight bouts to start his career before getting in a triangle at MMA Fight Pit Genesis in Albuquerque, NM this past summer.

Now Sean Spencer is coming off a loss, his first professional one ever. But he’s determined to shake it off as he’ll finally get to show what he’s made off – how hard he can get hit and keep moving forward.

In order to prove this, Spencer will have to get past a very tough opponent at Fight Game.

Taking on Derrick Krantz is no easy task. At 10-4 overall. D-Rock is every bit as seasoned a veteran as any on the Texas fight scene and is known as a hard-hitter. Coming off his own loss to current-Strikeforce fighter Brian Melancon at Legacy, Krantz will no doubt be hungry for his own comeback win when the two hit that big circular cage in Frisco.

As for Spencer though, he’s feeling ready as ever to move past his last fight and begin a streak anew on the way to bigger things ahead in his MMA career.

“I feel great going into this fight,” he told us about his mindset going into Fight Game. “I feel stronger, faster, and more determined to win than in any fight I have ever had. I’m going to look to control the distance and pace of the fight like I always do and most importantly put on a phenomenal show for all the DFW MMA fans and let them know that Black Magik is still here and isn’t going anywhere. Krantz is tough as hell and he brings the fire when he steps in the cage but so do I. If he has trained anywhere close to the level I have for this fight then this could be the fight of the year. But if Krantz didn’t come prepared then he is in for a rude awakening.”

Asked what fans should expect from the main event after buying tickets for this one, Sean offered only one piece of parting advice. “Don’t blink.”

Fighter Acknowledgements

“I was pumped just to be on the UFGL’s card in my own back yard but words can’t describe how excited I am to be the main event on a show like UFGL. I can’t wait to put on an awesome show for the my friends, family, and the great fans that support me and my team. I couldn’t do this without God blessing me with an awesome team of guys that push each other to be the best we can be every day. I want to give a big thanks to my Awesome manager Matt Rossini with Imperial Fight Management for all his hard work and dedication. Another HUGE thanks to LoanStar Title Loans, Guy Mezger’s Combat Sports Club, DOM, Premier Health Chiropractic, Rudog, Cruz Combat, Warrior Training Ground, BUFF Water, Refreshing Dental Care and Legacy Merch. See you guys Friday!” – Sean Spencer
