LAS VEGAS, NV, November 30, 2011 – This Friday night will be a significant evening for Bellator/WEC/Legacy veteran Eric Schambari (15-4) as he makes his next cage appearance for for the Universal Fight Game League against Robert “Bubba” McDaniel (18-6), himself a veteran of EliteXC and Bellator and a fighter also looking to score a win in order to propel himself to the next level.

Starting his career here in Texas, Eric Schambari began his career in MMA by winning his first 7 bouts before tasting defeat for the first time. He would go on to 15 of his first 17 overall before suffering back-to-back losses in his last two bouts, most recently against Andrew Craig on HDNet’s Legacy Fighting Championship 8 this past September. It’s the first time he’s ever dropped two in a row and if he has anything to say about it, the losing streak will stop there.

“I’ve been back training in Las Vegas,” said Schambari, who sometimes splits his time between the Cobra Kai facility in Sin City and DFW’s Team Takedown. Beginning his career here in Texas, Eric is happy to be returning to Texas to fight again. “I love it out here,” he says. “I’m excited to be fighting on this inaugural event.”

With stakes so high for this bout, Eric has left no stone unturned in terms of what he’s done to get ready.

“The fight with Andrew (Craig) at Legacy was a tough fight. I made a couple of mistakes there but I need to press on. No I need a win. Bubba is a tough opponent just like Andrew except he I a southpaw and has had many fights. I think of him as a grappler who is tall and also has good striking ability. I’m not going to force anything in this one but I definitely plan on getting the win.”

Asked what his plans were after this fight, Eric’s response was telling of the sacrifices fighters make when shooing a life in this sport.

“I didn’t get to eat a lot on Thanksgiving because of training,” he says. “I’m going to eat a lot after this is out of the way then continue fighting and training because this is what I do. I hope the fans come out and watch this one because it’s a great card with a lot of great fights including mine. Thank you to my training partners and coaches for getting me ready and we’ll see you in Frisco.”
