LAUGHLIN, NV, October 16, 2011 – Amarillo-based Shark Fights held their 20th event at the Edgewater Hotel & Casino in Laughlin, Nevada last night. Houston fighter Artenas “Machine” Gun” Young headlined the card against undefeated Arizona prospect Clifford Starks.

Young would try to fight strategically over the course of three rounds in the Shark Fights 20 main event only to outgrappled by a takedown-minded Starks. He would go on to drop a unanimous decision to the wrestling specialist – who trains alongside other such grapplers like CB Dollaway and Aaron Simpson at the Arizona Combat Club. With this loss, Chico now falls to 7-4 overall and will no doubt be looking to come back in short order.

“He did grind me out for three rounds,” Artenas said in a video posted on his Facebook account. “I couldn’t get off, couldn’t get into my game, couldn’t fight my fight. He fought his fight and took my legs out from under me but we’ll be back. I’m fine, I’m healthy, and ready to do this again. MGNation is stronger than ever.”

Elsewhere on the card, Roberto Vargas of Millenia MMA picked up his twelfth win to bring his record to 12-1 while giving Jared Downing his first loss in MMA.

Meanwhile, Alan Jouban brought his overall record to 3-1 after defeating DJ Robertson via decision. Prior to this bout, Jouban showed impressively with a body-punch KO of Andrew Goldthwaite at Shark Fights 17 in Frisco, TX. His only loss so far has come at the hands of Saekson-trained Chidi Njokuani so look for more out of Jouban on the national scene soon
