July 06, 2011 – The whirlwind continues as the UFC has now confirmed that Charles “do Bronx” Oliviera will be facing none-other than Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC LIVE 5 this coming August 14th in Milwaukee.
We reported earlier today citing Brazilian site Tatame that Oliviera would be taking on Joe Lauzon as his next opponent at UFC 138 after a disappointed no-contest decision marred his last ‘Fight of the Night’ performance but that’s not to be after all.
Bad news, right?
Not really. The silver lining for fans and the Gold Team fighter is a bout with even more potential for excitement as the part-time Texan will be now be taking on “Cowboy” in a bout that should have fans excited considering their pedigrees for delivering fast-paced and action-packed fights. With no less than seven Fight of the Night awards between them, expect this bout to be one for the ages.
Kind of ironic that we this bout in a pairing that was actually supposed to feature two other people entirely.
You following? Let’s break it down.
The original bout was supposed to be John Makdessi taking on Paul Taylor. Several days ago, Cerrone stepped in for an injured Makdessi. Following that switch, Taylor was also injured. That allowed the UFC to bring “do Bronx” back in to yet another appearance on a UFC LIVE card set for the Versus network.
So from John Makdessi vs. Paul Taylor to Donald Cerrone vs. Charles Oliviera.
Fans win!
UFC Live 5 is also expected to featured two more exciting fights in Dan Hardy taking on Chris Lytle in the main event and Ben Henderson taking on Jim Miller in the co-feature. Also expected on the card are Texans Leonard Garcia and Edwin Figueroa so make sure you stay tuned here TXMMA.com for more news as it comes!
